forecast was looking good to finally get out deep tomorrow and have a proper bash! now looking like a no go. . with this cyclone up north, predictions seem to be changing every time i look lol.
have found this season to be a bit frustrating to say the least!

Windy has just updated
Windy has just updated showing a northerly @ 16kts @ 06:00 south of Rotto with ECMWF modeling while GFS, Icon, Access & Access C-PH show any thing from east to south east. I'm hooked up ready to go & will wait & see in the morning.

i just checked bom coastal
i just checked bom coastal waters, offshore from rottnest and says abut 20knots, and swell to 2 meters. inshore from rotto i think looks betetr. but willy weatehr and seabreeze say looks great! think maybe just not a day to head too far out wide, and going nw early on, albeit quite weak..
reckon i will go, but just not head too far out, and make it an early one.

It's another one I always
It's another one I always use, the seabreeze layout is great for inshore forecasts. But Meteye will give a view out wide.
My main go to is Fishranger.

Never looked at Meteye
Never looked at Meteye before Andy but it looks like a good site.
I'd appreciate some thoughts on this weekend as I want to go to Rotto for the long weekend. Pretty much all of the sites say NW to about 10 knots in the morning. I haven't been over in a NW'er before so I'm unsure about it. The rest of the weekend looks okay including Monday to come home but I don't want a slow shitty trip over if I can avoid it.
Heading from Hillarys so I'll be heading into it unless it creates confused seas. I don't really like anything from the west to head over.

Trough and cyclone....goodluck
My general rule is when you get a big trough coming down from up north their ability to predict is average......get a cyclone with it and average becomes VERY average, just comes with the nature of that type of weather pattern (the numerical models aren't typically great at predicting systems with very high variability)

Yep I agree. Forecasts are
Yep I agree. Forecasts are generally pretty good but throw in a cyclone up north and they get very unpredictable. I'll keep watching the forecasts as teh week wears on. My experience says things will change one way or the other!

Looks like we are going to get the tail of that cyclone Friday mid morning Dave, that's the end of my Friday plans FFS.
Gutted , working all week in this stinking heat and then only to have the weekend blow out yet again.

Agreed Andy. It now looks liek Saturday will be SW all day which means no Rotto unless I want to bash all the way across. Why is the worst weather usually on the bloody weekend FFS!

Hope you went well Andy
Hell that cyclone shot down the coast but well offshore very quickly. Wind yesterday went from calm to 35 knots in minutes so hopefully today more settled.

Ended up slowly making our
Ended up slowly making our way to Rotto on Saturday into mostly westerley winds but still with a bit of NW chop. Far from ideal but when you're planning a long weekend away the painful trip is worth it provided it's safe, which it absolutely was. Wasn't as crowded over there as I expected so a pretty nice weekend.

Cracker of a day out there today
Bit breezy early but went out to several of the marks wreckies were kind enough to send me after my gps complete erase. Absolutely killed it, couldn't get away from dhuies, Samson fish were thick as well, bonus 50cm kgw from 48 metres. The sounder refurbished by Fremantle Marine Electronics (a Furuno 585) performed flawlessly and the new screen with no delamination was a sight to behold
