electrics and water, not a
electrics and water, not a good mix but you could try building a waterproof box out of perspex using silastic as a joiner and sealing up the holes where the wires go and also you can get this stuff that seals doors , its just like a heavy foam rubber that has adhesive on one side, get it from a marine shop, the perspex you can get at hardwares or if luck from a salvage yard a lot cheaper

Radios
Most 2 ways radios now are waterproof to a depth of 1 metre but this doesn't count for am/fm radio tuners. The only brand I can think of that may be water resistant is GME,available from most boat equiptment suppliers.

try and mount your radios inside the glovebox if you have one or if it is big enough....keeps em dry?

Clarion!
I've had many issues with GME 27 meg radio, VHF radio & stereo's on my boat. They say they're waterproof but lack quality & dont hold up....many other marine shops like myself have had issues!
I've gone for a W/P Marine Clarion unit, not probs what so ever...highly recommended!

I've got a centre console
I've got a centre console (it gets a bit wet from time to time) and have gone thru a couple of stereo's, even in a fully waterproof housing, i bit the bullet and spent a bit more money and choose a Fusion marine stereo. Here is a link to the site http://www.fusionelectronics.com.au/en/australasia/marine-audio-2/product-type.aspx
I went for the MS-CD500for the all round water proofing, as the best place for me to mount it is on the side of the console and the inside of the console is not water tight so it get a bit of moisture in behind it as well, had it for about a year now with no sign of rust or trouble and it has been soaked in sea water many a time. Very happy so far
