Waroora in 9 weeks Need some info!!!
Submitted by Stoinka on Thu, 2010-02-25 08:22
Just trying to gather some info on Waroora. I have stayed their for a week years ago land based fishing only.
But this time we are a taking a 4.8m Topender and a 4m tinny.
Between Waroora and Gnarloo their would have to be quite a few surf breaks on the outer reefs, anyone would like to let me in on their secrets about the best surf spots along that stretch.
Also fishing is it worth it to travel outwide or just work the drop offs in close and look out for bait schools out on the flats.
Have any of you had much luck with sailfish in that area.
Thanks alot ladies and gentleman as any information will be greatly appreciated.
regards

lagoons
Go from Lagoons mate, heaps of surf not too far away (you'll see it). Plenty of crays, heaps of spango's, no sanctuary zones near (pay to check if its changed though) and can get out the back very easily if you get good conditions. Lots of camp sites and relatively easy to launch the boat.
I'll chuck up a small vid later on.Cheers,
Adam

Thanks alot Adam, sorry i cant go to you fishwrecked comp, but a few of the other bunbury boys will be there.
Should be alright to put in a temp mooring for the boats and remove it when we leave???????
Look forward to your video, keep up the good work mate.

yeh some real good advice Damo
watch that Bonnie character......bugger will sleep in all morning, them come out and sit in your burley trail....
and then you'll be in stitches watching him stuff around trying to catch fish...ha ha.... and yeh dont forget to take his training wheels off his boat so this time he fishes outside the reef
Gona be a good trip.
Last time there we camped south (can't remember the creek name, it's to early....)and plenty of blokes were just swimming out to the surf breaks while most were fishing just out off the breakers but they only had small tinnes.
Others with larger boats were based up the northern end of ithe Station.
We'll be down to check on you mob at some stage and pirate your boat and dont forget its Dan's 30th and they'll (BJ included) all be at the Coral Bay pub

We all still might take an extra week and 'Gate Crash!' Exmouth! Oops! better shut up!

We are heading up around the same time and moor our boats at Maggies. Break in reef is around pelican point and can be very dangerous on big swells so count the sets on those days and get the timing right. Sanctuary zones are now in place so refer to a ningaloo reef map. Good fishing inside on bombies for Spanglies. On back of reef good for mackies and GT's but reds are a bit further out and the drop to deep water is gradual unlike south of Exmouth. 100 meter mark is some 36ks offshore. don't know much about surfing but enjoy its a great spot for small boats
