Travelling North?
For those planning to travel north in the near future it will pay to be on the look out for roos from Billabong through to turn off. Drove up to Exmouth on Sunday arvo and there was no shortage of fresh bodies on the roadside, returned to Wooramel Tuesday then off to Gero on Wednesday and back Thursday with approx. the same amount of carcasses on the roadside as well.
For those who like to break the trip north up, give Wooramel roadhouse a bit of consideration. Cost for a budget donga room with either two single beds or a single and bunk beds for kids is $30 a night. In the near future there will be ensuite rooms with a double bed on offer. A camp kitchen is available for those wishing to cook their own food or grab a meal from the roadhouse, hot food cooking closes at 1815

Billabong.
I agree carnarvonite, we now break the trip up with an overnight stay at Billabong.
It's half way to Exmouth and both sections can be done comfortably during daylight hours.
Rooms are around $90/night for three people.
Food in the pub is top notch as well using fresh produce from Carnarvon.
it is my recommendation for a stop over, even when we go to Steep Point.
To all those traveling up there, be safe & enjoy.
Cheers & Stay safe

everywhere.
About a month ago I left Kalbarri about 2am to head for exmouth and I was glad I caught up to an old mate in his truck on the highway, so just sat behind him. But coming back a week later, leaving exmouth at 18:00 and driving thru the night, I got myself 3 for the trip home. As soon as ya turn off the highway, (be it the old road into Barri or the Exmouth road) things were jumping out from everywhere.

We've seen hundreds of carcasses, some places we just could not camp at due to the stench.
