www.duralitetrailers.com.au

www.duralitetrailers.com.au are worth a look . We got one a couple of years ago and is at least 350 kilos lighter than a steel trailer for the same boat. Drive an 8 metre boat on no problems at all on some pretty shallow ramps . Prices may have changed since then but it was a substantial amount cheaper than some of the better steel trailers around too.Alot of the bigger trailer manufacturers are making alloy trailers now . I would never go back to a steel one again.

If I was getting a new trailer.

If I was getting a new trailer, I would get all the suspension pins/bushes made greasable, and not use the nylon bushes.

one thing you can look at , instead of tubing for main supports , maybe look at using     R S J. it wont hold water and that means no rust unseen

Do you mean Dunbier have tried other suppliers of tyres and the tyres suppliers let them down, or did you mean Dunbier have let you down?

Gotta say my Dunbier trailer is one of the easiers trailers I have put a boat on. Seems pretty good construction too.

Sorry i ment the trailer

Thu, 2010-08-19 15:06

Sorry i ment the trailer manufactures kept letting them down. You'd be supprised how amny times the;ve tried ofther companies. The tires are imported from over seas and the owner really wanted to use local but simply couldn't.

I love Dunbier trailers. I was the first dealer to bring them in and bulk license them a long time ago.

I will say the biggest issue with Dunbier trailers in my opinion is the idoits trying to fit them up at the dealerships..One of my pet hates..

So Dunbier sub-contracts the manufacturing, and those sub-contractors that build for Dunbier let Dunbier down? Was thinking Dunbier built theirs in house, so may have added to the confusion?

Could be a bad batch of tyres

Mon, 2010-08-16 22:54

I have a 4 year old dunbier with an unknown brand of chinese tyres (originals). Have no issues with the trailer or tyres.

One thing to note direct from their website....

Please note: Dunbier Marine is a manufacturer that supplies to trade customers only. We do not sell direct to the public.

So unfortunately if you are looking for a new one POC you may be out of luck with dunbier.

Give John Papas trailers a try.

you must be lucky

Tue, 2010-08-17 18:42

i know of more than one person that has had a tyre issue with dunbier they really need to do some research into getting a better tyre manufacturer and get some decent light truck tyres on them we deserve it cosidering how much you pay and another tip as well keep them inflated to 40-50 psi flat tyres dont like long trips

*HINT*

Tue, 2010-08-17 19:03

quite easy to recommend for brand new tyres on your trailer possisbly at your extra expense, they do not have to supply brand new tyres on your trailer as new, also dunbier are generally ford bearings and are also dearer to maintain in the long run imo

russ if your boat is jacked up by the jockey wheel, ie boat has no bungs may rain today, and is up on the jockey why would a trailer hold water, most A frames are vented anyway and they are galved also, dont see that issue?

should be included

Tue, 2010-08-17 19:27

i know that they dont have to put new tyres on but considering what they are carrying ie your hard earned investment they should be obliged to do it some of our local manufacturers do do it so i suggest people shop around as for the ford bearings an xtra $4 per set isnt going to break the budget now

I beam

Tue, 2010-08-17 19:47

my preference would be Dunbier or Mackay , trailit or trailezy are not to bad , i would stay away from I beam as they twist easy and dont support as well as tube / box tube style frame, yes you may get some rust forming inside the tube but dont you to wash down you rig and trailer when you come home .

One important note , you spend a heap of money on a new boat ,sounder and all the frills that go with it, then you want to save dollars on a trailer which is the only thing that gets your new rig to and from the ramp each trip and even more if you want to travel up the coast each year

Old fart has

Wed, 2010-08-18 09:06

Road Master trailer on his 18' boat, bought boat in 1982 this is his second trailer, tyres are light truck, water proof lights, we also got the boat guide put on (fantastic when the sea breeze is in Leeman)  new regs stated we had to have brakes (got) no problems with this trailer maker, would recommend, they are in Morley, they are called Master Engineering and old fart thinks they are on Morley Drive, cost $3200 (licenced on the road)  two years ago, hardly any adjustment etc, with warranty, can't remember for how long.

Pappas

Wed, 2010-08-18 09:12

Just bought a trailer for a 15 footer from Pappas Trailers and am very happy with it.

Shopped around and pappas had the best price .......They use second hand tyres on

new rims , but I wanted my old tyres fitted anyway so it worked out well .
