Traffic chaos heading south
Submitted by Colin Hay on Thu, 2009-04-09 13:37
Just a heads up that the traffic heading down south is already building up. Apparantly there was a truck rollover near Lake Clifton.

Why?
- and well done as a volunteer - why is because of all the idiots who still do 120 in the new 100 zone as they were doing yesterday - my regards to the knob with vanity plate " Chelsea". They are simply stupid arrogant f....s who i will have to deal with again today on my way from work in Bunbury.

Howdy, Why? Because
Hi Ya,
Why?
Because you have dopey stupid pricks and bitches like the one that was driving the 4x4 on the freeway this morning registration 1CWR xxx (won't include the numbers).
There was two days worth of daylight between me and the vehicle behind me yet this stupid cow came past me then squeezed in between the me and the vehicle in front so she could exit onto Hodges drive. Why the dopey, brainless bitch couldn't have pulled in behind me I have no idea. I was travelling at 100kph so on the speed limit.
Then to add to her demonstration of brainlessness, after making a right turn onto Hodges, accelerated through the next set of lights after they had turned amber. From point of acceleration, she was marginally behind me (I in the right lane she in the left) so had plenty of time to stop but no she was too important in her tiny brain to bother stopping. The two cars in front of me in the right lane had plenty of time to stop as did I.
That's why.
Cheers - I think

I was coming home on the freeway yesty and a car had broken down in the centre lane.
everyone just drove around and left the old ladies stuck there.
I pulled up got the traffic to stop and with the assistance of two others that stopped pushed them of the road.
It took 1-2 mins.
why are people in so much of a hurry they cant stop and assist anyone else and just let the traffic jam build up.

60 km in and around road works just isnt good enough for some people. And I would like to know why it is so important to get in front of a truck even when Iam doing the speed limit? Dont even start me on fuckwits!!!

Hi Ya, I know traffic is
Hi Ya,
I know traffic is bad news here on long weekends, but to see really bad traffic you have to go to the big centres like Sydney and Melbourne.
A year ago my brother told me that the traffic on Pacific Highway running into Sydney had banked up for a little while.
He lives in Kariyong (spelling ???) in Gosford and from his back porch can just see the highway through the trees. It is about 200 to 300 metres from his back fence.
Anyway, the report was that the trip from Gosford to Sydney was taking about 9 hours
. It is only about 100 kilometres.
So, as bad as it gets here, be thankful you aren't over east.
Cheers.

not only speeding
if we're all having a vent, i'd just like to give a big 'word up' to all the peanuts who regularly do 90-95kmh in 110 zones between perth and dunsborough. in a newish vehicle with no load, in broad daylight. these people regularly bank traffic up for ages and have a seeming inability to check rearview mirrors and/or make use of P stops etc to relieve traffic buildup. of course their worse cousin is that who will speed back up at every overtaking lane. pelican idiot freak mongrels. hate em.
seen too many desperate chances taken by otherwise regular drivers who have had a skinfull of these peoples over cautious driving.
speed kills, so it does, and i dont advocate speeding at all, but too much of anything (even caution) is still too much.
i would suggest there should be a driver education program for all townies who travel to the 'country' on rare occaisions. it should include handy tips on how to remember to turn off your high beams in the infrequent event of getting to use them on your annual holiday.
phwew, that's better. feel normal again now. till next time anyway.

Yup, definately full on.
Well, I think I'll be busy on tuesday and for some time. I came up from Albany to Barker after a lattish finish last night and WAP had a 'booze station' set up the full lenth of the overtaking lane section closest to Albany. It was a big operation with what appeared to EVERYONE being stopped. I was in court uniform, but still got RBT'ed (as it should be of course). So I'm sure it'll be busy in the local courts for some time.
I'm amazed at how many people drive without their lights on, or the idiots that insist they have their 'fog' (spot) lights on, errrrrrrr why?
. Then there's all the grey/silver cars that drive at dusk (low light) without any lights on and are virtually invisible.
And yes, everybody was flying down, right up each other's clacker, overatking in risky situations because they (it would seem) have to be in front of the car in front of them.
And that's before everyone gets to the Albany roundabouts.
Just what does it take to get the message across?

Hi Ya,Oh Supremo #2, it
Hi Ya,
Oh Supremo #2, it was very surprising to me to find out that thebooze and drugs buses catch more unregistered drivers or drivers of unregistered vehicles than they do drung or drug effected drivers.
Couldn't believe it when our son told us that. When he was in the traffic enforcement group he used to leave home and say "Well, I'm going to litter the streets again," refering to the number of cars they'd be removing the number plates from. and they'd only do that where either the drivers or vehicle license was over three months out of date. One night they left nearly 30 cars on the side of the road.
And Hansie, few things get up my nose more than those turkeys who speed up as soon as they get to the overtaking lanes. Maybe, once we get the dual lane road all the way to Bunbury, they need to strictly enforce the keep left rule or maybe even enact laws similar to those in Europe for the autobahns - maximum and minumum speed limits for each lane.
But then again, we already have a keep left rule on dual lane roads with a speed limit of more than 90km/ph and how many ignore that now? Or even the minimum speed limit on the freeway? Got caught behind some fool doing 75 on the freeway a week or so ago. Dopey old prick. Probably driving along congratulating himself on never having had an accident in all his life. Probably caused a heap though.
Cheers.

Town Siren
The Mount Barker town siren has just been activated. I fear that could be, yet another, serious (even fatal) crash on Albany Highway.

Goes off at the local fire station - so all emergency services/personel receives a heads up. Sadly, it's often because of a traffic crash, especially when the weather is the way it is at the moment down here (moderate, overcast).

Its not just the roads
Its not just the roads sociaty is really on the way down. Go to the shops and have a look at people walking around no one smiles or says hi .I have days when I go out of my way to say hi to all I make eye contact with .Most times they will say hi in return .I think the presures sociaty put on folks young and old has made a lot of sad people. As said people are in to much of a rush to go out of there way ,or are just to selfish and rapped up in there own little life to give a shit.

Spot on Paul!
I remember years ago, Perth used to be like a large country town, where you could go into the mall and feel comfortable going up to just about anybody, anybody coming up to you (ask directions/info, or just say hello etc etc). Having done a lot of travel across the world at the time, Perth stood out as a friendly city. How times have changed. The proce of 'progress' - Perth has lost it's innocence.

your spot on with that one Paul
one problem with saying hi or smiling to people these days they are probably wondering wtf
as a delivery driver i see a lot of people in and around shops and everyone seems to be in too much of a hurry to even acknowlege that anyone has even crossed their path
being nice to strangers has gone by the way side in most caces these days
Dreamy, hope its nothing serious with that siren

So true, but you still get the ignorant one who looks straight through you instead of replying like you are trying to steal a smile from them.
Back to the traffic over Easter
Went down to the servo on the T junction to fuel up yesterday morning and nearly every driver coming in looked as if they had knocked off work, hopped in the car and driven all night to get here.Their eyeballs hanging out refuelling ready to drive on again to Ripoff Bay or Exmouth and they wonder why people fall asleep and wipe themselves and usually someone else off.But unfortunately there is no test for tiredness or stupidity

There was a guy on the freeway yesterday in a black Range Rover. I was on the speed limit, (cruise control), he overtook me, cut in so tightly there was no way I could see beyond him. Once he had done that, he slowed down so that I had to brake, drop back, pull out, over take him and then resume travelling on the speed limit! What was the point of it?

Maybe safe driving had invaded his subconscious and he had to do that to remind himself that he was still an idiot on the road - seems that's a lot of folks conmfort zone.

Hi Ya, Think I may have
Hi Ya,
Think I may have seen this same turkey on the freeway early Monday 13 April. Was cruising down the freeway at about 4:00am and caught up with a similar description vehicle. I was only doing 90 - 95k's. I went past. Several minutes later he came flying past then moved into left lane. Only took a few minutes & I had caught him again so went past again still travelling at 90 - 95. He dropped back several hundred metres then, lo & behold, he is passing me again. This happened several times.
He finally went past me in the 70km speed area at the southern end of the freeway and then turned left at the first roundabout (as did I). Then the prick travelled at 65km in the 80km zone and actually stopped at each roundabout. Finally got past him and lost him after that.
Some weird people around.

I'm loving perth traffic
Moved back to perth at start of april from melbourne, drove home in "peak hour" perth traffic and saw maybe 15 cars at a set of lights..... in melbourne where i've been for 9 years.... it takes about 1 1/2 hours (morning and night peak hour) to get from city or oakleigh.. about 20km's. Praise the lord for automatic transmission

Just got back from 10 days
Just got back from 10 days in Albany.
The traffic Friday heading down was crazy, everyone was in a hurry, lots of been overtaken on blind hills/bends at unbelievable speeds.
Almost had the pleasure of rear ending a car load of teenagers on the last overtaking lane before Albany.I was doing my legal 100ks (towing my heavy off-road trailer, fully loaded) They overtook doing 120ks+ then proceeded to pull in front hit the brakes hard to turn left.I had the pedal down hard, the ABS was doing its stuff the electric trailer brakes even locked up.They had passed 3 or 4 vehicles behind me.
As Vander said,4x4s dont pull up quick, almost conidered knicking him with the bullbar just to watch him spin like a top.
Great to see so many coppers on the road,8 vehicles between Williams and Kojonup.
Home safe,not too many fish!!!
