just as a general comment
just as a general comment you shouldnt need to clean them out .. the fuel pick up is at the bottom of the tank so is sucks all the rubbish up for you (note fuel filter is a must) if you think there is water in the tank then pour in a water remover (i think metho does the trick) or yamaha sells it in a container . all it does is breaks the water down so it can pass thru the carby and burn off .. the best fix is a water seperating filter - its a must on any boat that goes more than a few mile offshore imo ..
hope this helps :) ... Clint

Metho
Metho does the trick getting rid of small amounts of water/condensation from petrol. To get best results have more than1/2 a tank in it when you do it to get better absorbsion by way of volume

Fuel tank...
...when I changed motors, and therefore fuel requirements, I was able to remove the tank and tip all the old stuff into jugs. I don't know how easy this would be for others but in my case it was simple a case of drilling out about 40 or so rivets, disconnecting the in/out/breather lines, and pulling the 115 litre tank completely out. As I said, may not be the easiest option but it's a thorough one if you can swing it!
