There are NO fish in Albany!!!!

After 10 days in Albany and lots of fishing expeditions I can say there are NO fish in Albany!!!!

No Salmon,LOADS of undersize Skippy and small herring, almost as annoying as Blowies as they clean your bait up soon as it hits the water.

I got bitten off twice fishing off the rocks at Two peoples Bay,lost a Nanagai and also a large slender silver fish with black stripes when the swell didnt match the rocks(any ideas what it was??? it fought for almost 10mins!!!) .Also managed to land a 40cm Skippy in the same spot,a personal best for me,I threw back 2 large Buffalo Bream around the 50cm size. The spot I found was extremely deep, dark blue water and no snags uless you let the line come right into your feet.Shame about the small fish smashing my mulies up,Im sure there was bigger beasts to be had.If anybody is fishing Two Peoples Bay,go to Little Beach,go out onto the rocks, walk around the first casm in the rocks then fish 50m or so the other side of it.Its pretty safe as far as rock fishing goes, just watch the swell.

Had to recover my mates Rangie from the Bournholme sandhill tuesday morning, broken rear suspension and rear tailshaft. That took out my "local" fishing guide for the rest of the week as he had to fix it to return to Williams.

At least the cat is happy.I saved a few small herring and yellowtail caught just incase a school of Salmon was found.

Despite not catching much,I fished more in the last 10 days than I have in the last 10 years,AND Albany turned on some spectacular weather once those easterlies dropped.

Until next time!!!!

Andrew

There has been for a long time, some amazing catches off the stones in Albany, but it comes from a LOT of experience, often some very long walks and, at other times, being in the right place at the right time.

BUT! Tell you waht, drop me some contact details via a PM and, when we get our car back, I'll take you out in our boat. I won't promise the world, but all I'll say is, we've NEVER come back without a feed of something decent mate!

How does that sound? Wink

Thanks Colin

Would love a boat trip, more than happy to put in for fuel.

Once I finish my camper trailer, and house renos allowing I hope to get a boat.Heart wants a nice 6m,but brains say I should look at a large tinnie size canoe first to see I get the use out of it been so far from water.

Havent done boating much at all in the last 20 years, had mates with boats when I was younger.

Looks like they are doing a skippers ticket locally in a few months so I will look into getting mine.

Thanks

Andrew

I just resently left albany after living there for 3 years and I know it seems that its that way down there but most of the locals will share a spot with you .A 4.5 metre tinny is a good size down there (asks local legend about his truck)That will get you to good spots on most days. I got a feed every time like Colin (and his titanic sized boat) and only moved to Karratha to get away from the bloody cold.

Hey Solly!

Not sure if I'm comfortable with the iceburg adjective (titanic Laughing) . LOL

I agree, a 4.5 metre tinny is certainly the most versatile.

I'd like that, a 5.6m Cuddy (hmmmm I wonder which boat THAT is! Tongue out) and perhaps the latest Haines Hunter Patriot - or even a top scale Grady White! Tongue outTongue out

Im with you there Colin but the missus has given approval and I like the cruise craft 685 explorer, when I come back home ( i hear the winters are getting warmer LOL) in about ten years I see if mine will fit up the kalgan like yours.

Yeah, winters are up to double digit temps LOL. Nah, gave that silly idea away mate (up the Kalgan). Besides, don't need to, have a mate with a smaller boat now.
