SWAN RIVER (SHARK)

hi everyone i have a bit of a querri and was hoping someone would have some ideas for the last 3 weeks i have been fishing down at the swan from around 10pm to 3am using a ugly stick (gold) and a penn powerspin v6000 real with 120lb fireline and a metal trace with 2 hooks, i have been placing a mullet on the line putting one hook thourgh its mouth and the other thourgh its tail every nite ive been getting a decent run without fail and there no doubt in my mind its a bulllshark the problem im having is as soon as i go to reel him in he gets loose and i reel in empty with no bait why cant i hook this sucker???

nothing wrong with that

nothing wrong with that steve, though a few people might not go swiming in the river for a long while .

untamed, are you giving the fish plenty of time to swallow the bait before you set the hooks, another thing i would do is sharpen your hooks, this will help in setting the hooks

as schecky said, use gamakatsu circle hooks in 6/0--8/0. they work very well and no strike is really needed.

mate using full mullet i would steer away from the circle hooks, we have dropped so many fish because the barb embed's itself in the side of the mullet, not the fish taking the bait. IMO gamakatsu SL12's are the best for using full baits they dont need sharpening either, bloody strong sharp hooks. We use an 8/0 size
