Suzuki Idle Air Control Valve
A heads up if you ever need a Suzuki IAC valve.
I had motor trouble over the weekend and took the donk (Suzuki 70 4stroke) in to my regular service centre. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty "Idle air control valve" and replaced at a cost of over $600 dollars. Part was $498 and labour $121.
A bit miffed at a $500 part I did some research to check pricing on the Suzuki part. I came acroos the ausfish thread - link below. Suzuki actually use a Mitsubishi part here (apparently quite common). Same IAC valve used in some Outlanders, Lancers and other cars. Price? around $120. Further research showed "after market parts" available for under $50.
How do Suzuki justify rebadging a part and then chargeing 4 times the retail price for it? Daylight robbery.

The price charged is clearly the price the market will bear. Clearly I am "not smart enough or hands on enough" so I paid the price for my ignorance. The purpose of the post was simply a heads up to other readers of this site who may have this issue in future.

Genuine Suzuki IAC
Future reference try 4WDpartshop in midland bought a genuine one there for $300 bucks 15 minutes to fit it up.too easy

Is the $498 the price from
Is the $498 the price from Suzuki or the price from your service centre, whilst still expensive there might be $100-$150 mark up on the part from your mechanic ?

I got the cheap online option
I got the cheap online option $30 and it ran fine but heard that they fail after about 100hrs so thought I would get the genuine mits part.

Had the same issue, bought a cheap Chinese one off eBay, while I ordered a genuine online from the states which was going to take a few weeks. The cheap one didn't even last 2 weeks before that failed, returned that and by that time The genuine one was from airtex (who repackage the genuine auto parts.) All genuine with the Mitsubishi logo on the part just liek the genuine Suzuki one. Price was 80usd, just had to wait the few weeks to get it.

Had the same issue with my previous car with a signal relay that was playing up. Rang Subaru and was quoted $88 for a genuine part which I looked up online and found for $23, when I enquired with Subaru as to the price difference I was told it was because they only carried genuine parts. Both parts were a Bosch relay with the exact same model no.....

115 fuel pump
When the fuel pump failed on the Suzuki, was told about $500 as the V.S.T. comes complete. Perth company.
The lady at Repco I showed the pump to, said it looks like a Suzuki something or other, got one from the back, $72 , fitted it up and away we go. was a Mitsubishi part.
In fairness, the Suzuki People here in Mandurah have been very fair and easy to deal with, when needed.
