Summer Squid

Hi All,

With the strong winds making getting offshore a little difficult, I was wondering if anyone has been having any joy in chasing squid in the north metro area?

I have heard reports that there are a few around in Cockburn Sound, but what about up north?

Cheers Steve

Have been out squiddin in the sound last two nights from boat and jetties and havent caught one squid. You can see them but they dont want to touch the jig. Used all types of colours and sizes. Got a shit load of yellow tail but no squid. I think it may have something to do with the full moon.

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more serious than that!!!

They can certainly be

They can certainly be finicky buggers at times, but at least you know that they are around.

Did you try putting a yellowtail on a baited jig? That quite often results in some shy squid being caught, I usually set mine under a balloon way out the back of the boat.

I thought they were a winter prospect? Are they just more prevalent in Winter? Obviously some around in summer too?

yeah good swap - 7kg dhu for a squid! cant beat that for a deal! gotta love fresh bait.

ended up with 3 x 6-7kg dhu's, 2 x big baldies, and 3 x blackarse, back at ramp by 1pm.
