structure

This might seem silly but I just wanted to check to me this is structure but the wy the sonar picks underneath it kinda makes it look like a mushroom this is from a raymarine A70. its not just a big dam piece of weed right ? :)

what have you got your sounder
set up like?? is it on bottom lock or zoom or fish on the left hand side??

I am no expert but the left is showing a rise around 6m from the bottom and the right it is not connected to the bottom.
My very limited knowledge would say it is fish is it always there what have you caught.

I have the same unit and depending on settings I would call that a bait school every time.

cycling returns like that looks weird....too slow for the receiver????
does it have dual frequency????....coz you only have the 200khz (wide) selected...

Bait school
and it was tight packed in the center so the sounder showed it same as bottom.

i would guess from what i can make out on the picture LHS is theres a 6mt pinacle with bait fish /fish on either side of the lump , the RHS appears to be on bottom lock ?? as that wont show any rises but still should show the variance between the bottom and the fish schools, you apear to be on Auto as well i would take it off and drive the unit on manual, also please pass on the co-ordinates and i will have a look with my sounder on the wekend and let you what i find LOL

Thxs it felt kinda wierd not like a proper structure ill give it pass when i head out tomorrow ;) if its still there ;) we shall know as for frequency I belice 200 is shallow 50 is really for the deeper side 100m+ ?

i generally run 200 hz up 100 mts before changing over , this all depends as well on your settings and speed of boat
