Squid sesh

Quick squiddly sess with Daz after work, landed 15 nice big fatties. At some stages, we had upt to 5 squid following in the hooked squid.......easy pickings. Quick sounder snap.....

Grayzee....yeah, pretty easy

Wed, 2011-05-25 08:05

Grayzee....yeah, pretty easy in shallow water, any sounder should look chrisp.

At 30-40m, I can travel at 25 knots and hold a clear bottom.

I have had mine down to 140 m and still OK and picks up bottom fine, but you do need to slow down to under 10 knots to get a nice clear reading and under 5 knots to properly pick up fish.

Pretty happy with the Raymarine. The best thing is its full auto mode is excellent....I put a lot of work into the transducer (just a crappy 500 kW job) and set a few functions a few years ago and basically dont mess with it now. Basically hands off.

The Furuno 620/585 is nice, and probably a better pure sounder. I would have thought your 585 would have been pretty clear in 100m?

No worries :)

Wed, 2011-05-25 10:29

Anytime your keen just let me know I'll see
If I can make it, otherwise after work squid session would be sweet.

On the smith topic- have to admit I'm constantly putting more and more drag and stress on it, reckon I gotta pull my head in a bit or I will likely snap it soon as you say :)
