sounder issue
Dont know if anyone else is having the same problem , but i found recently when drifting along i could zoom in and ramp up the sensitivity to around 70/80% and had good readings, as soon as my motor started and revved higher than 1400 rpm the screen would black out with interference and cover the fish and i would have to cut back the sensitivity to 30 % and then show no fish, as shown on the picture above coming up a bomie in 65mts the sounder shows fish and good bottom as i rev the motor to 15/1600 revs to move the boat into a better drift i got inteference, after a lot of trial and error i found the transducer was getting sound /noise interfernce from the prop and i had to get the transducer more than a mt away before it dropped of to allow to sounder to work clearly and works well even at 20 + knots , i will be installing a through the hull transducer 1200 mm infront of the motor to resolve the problem

transducer
dont know paul , maybe you getting air bubbles under the hull , my unit i could get a good picture at any speed and clear view of the bottom, but to achieve a clear picture i had to drop the sensitivity which then stopped showing the fish , now i can travel at all speeds and have the sens up at higher levels to indicate the bottom fish, Lowrance came to the party and gave me alot of advice and even they were supprised when it was prop noise causing the issue

Thru hull transducer is one option
But by moving it have you corrected the fault. If so a wet box may be the cheaper option if you have the room to install it and you can run you transom mount in the wet box. I have done this with sucsess for years now.

wet box
garry had look at the wet box setup, but i want to ensure i get the best picture possible and the dealer thought shooting through the alli might be harder, and i still have to pull up the floor access plate for both options but iam still toying with drilling a 60mm hole in the hull, boats are designed to float without holes, how thick is the material under your transducer to under side of hull

Im running F/glass at a guess
I would say 5mm-7mm. My wet box is a PVC tube glassed onto the hull cut at the angle of the floor. This then has a screw on lid that goes onto the PVC. Same as used on sewerage pipes. I folded the transom mount over so the transducer so i could fasten it to the lid. Worked a treat until a few months ago when i upgraded. Still using the same wet box just replaced the lid with a new one to suit the new transducer. I fish between 120 - 220mts and still get a good screen pic.

tranny mount
i recently installed new lowrance hds7 unit on the boat and against wat i was told put the transducer on the left of the prop or upside i got told... was told it had to be on the downward stroke to reduce interferance but ive had no problem except snapping it off completly the other day lol... i do muck with my sensetivety while out... about 72% when cruising and ramp if up to about 82-5 when fishing.... bit of hassle but pays diveys....

left side
Poddy i had heard that before that the port side is less noisier than the starboard for prop wash which is another option unfortunately the mounting brackets are only on the starboard side, cheers for the info
