Shovel Nose Sharks
What are the pro's and con's on catching or hooking into a Shovel Nose Shark.
how do you handle them, how do they feel when hooked, are they a danger, what baits are used and what rigs are use to hook these speices.
I'm planinng on fishing the South beaches near me for mulloway and I wish to know alittle more about these Shovel Nose Sharks.
any one care to fill us in on these Shovel Nose Sharks, may be a photo or two please.

Shovelnose,Banjo Sharks
I've caught plenty of these Sharks always seem to be over sandy bottom. I release them as I'm fussy as to which fish I keep to eat, Shark is'nt one of them. They are a harmless Shark they have no teeth just a hard raspy gum same as Gummy Shark. They are a scavenger and will take most baits.

shovelnose sharks
yeh same as big kev karl ,they r basically another bycatch when chasing other species.we have caught plenty up around sharkbay and normally keep one for a feed ,they r good tucker on the bbq cut into cutlets bout an inch thick salt n pepper , squeeza lemon cuppla coldies . we use 6 - 8 kg mono 60 - 80 lb mono leeder couple 6,0s snelled up done the trick 4 us. i reckon the fight could b of a sluggish ray although 6 - 8 footers have got some balls have nearly been spooled couple of times . good luck m8 enjoy the fight .

Cheers guys,
from what I'm reading when fishing for mulloway is that alot of Shovel Nose Sharks are caught down my way, I'm just doing a bit of research on them because I'm more likely to catch one than a Mulloway
