Shimano T-curve Deep Jig O/H 200

Hey.

I am going to buy one of these rods at match it with a torium 20 reel with 50lb jigging braid. Im going to use it for bottom bouncing but also jigging for sambos. What wieght jigs can this rod handle?? and how many people use either the rod or the reel and what are they like?

Cheers

good reel. a carbontex drag upgrade would make them better. no dramas otherwise.keep them serviced regularly though!!

Had the spin model a while

Had the spin model a while ago and it goes pretty well, I never got anything too large on it though... largest was probably around 20kgs.  My mate now uses it and he got one that would have been around the 25(-ish)kg mark last season and that probably would have been its limit... unless you were happy for a slow retrieve.

As far as the jig weights go I reckon I never really went higher than 200-250g with it... been a while since I used it though.

I had one of them, matched with a torsa 30 and 50lb braid. the rod snapped first trip out at the derwent. took it back, paid the difference, and upgraded to the 400 t-curve (24 - 37kg). that snapped on a frickin banjo shark in 40m 3 weks later (the braid held).

took that back and bought an alutecnos blue jigging rod. havent looked back since.

I think you'll find the '200' stands for the weight of the jigs it's rated to. Anything above that and you'll struggle.

I have the spin version and that is rated for jigs between 170g - 250g. It max line is 24kg. Probable handle jigs to 300g as long as you didn't go to hard with your jigging action. Nice rod but have used better. I would prefer a Hearty Rise at roughly the same price.

i have a 200. it's the second one i've had because the first one snapped.

i have a torsa 16n on mine and it's good.

it'd go ok for jigging as long as you don't try any good jigging rods at the same time.

then you realise quickly where the extra coin goes

I have a pair of those

I have a pair of those T-curve 400's Deep jigs, but for heavier 400g jigs and they can take heaps of stick. Landed some big sambos on both the overhead and spin rods over the years

As an allround combo, that would be a good set up. don't go over 50lb braid, as it will load up the rod to much and the drag on the reel is not going to give you much more to use the full exstent of the 50lb+ braid.

I have a T-curve overhead with a Saltist 40 set up on 50lb braid and it does everything I need for a one-rod fishing day. Can bottom bounce, jigg and even flick out a floating live bait if needed.
