I've heard of people catching them out on the three mile, but have no idea quite how or how often. Would be interesting to see how, and perhaps give it a crack sometime.

Something I wouldnt mind trying as I havent actually caught a shark bigger than one of those small greeneyes out in 250m of water.

Gummy's are actually quite placid and not like other sharks. Although Gummy sharks are revered as one of the best eating fish in Melbourne, I would chase other sharks. More fun. More fight haha

we used to get at least a black tip or 2 or even a bronzy about 100mts off the back of the maac club, just burley up hard for an hour before sunset then chuck ur rig out on sunset on a float, you shouldnt have to wait long.

Hey Naylor

Good luck with your shark hunt !

Was just wondering how the big sharks know that your not targeting them ?

A 5 metre white would make interesting by catch Foot in mouth

I'm sure a 5m great white

Fri, 2010-10-15 11:24

I'm sure a 5m great white and a 1m gummy will fight a little different. I've hooked up to a few unstopables, you just snap them off before they take all your line. I dont think anyones going to try and land a shark bigger than the tinny (or close)...

Besides, I doubt he'd be using half a seal carcass as bait, lol.

I wont be using bait any bigger than a mulie or herring and as for burlie i was just gonna cube like u would for shallow water snapper, i dont think anyone on this site would have hooked a gw snapper fishing! But thanks for your concern.

Just Mess'in with ya

However if you use a mulie / herring and hook a small gummy and have that thrashing around .......you may get unwanted attention from something bigger.

We quite often recycled the little ones ..........into big ones up north.

Tie a good float to your anchor rope in case you have make a hastie retreat to avoid that be dark grey stalker .haha
