Sam got mine donkeys years

Tue, 2008-02-12 17:18

Sam got mine donkeys years ago with Australiasian diving academy great bunch of people and they also put us through a few scenario's which have saved me a couple of times for a decent set of gear you would be looking at the 4000-5000 mark and thats not the top end gear either depends how much you are going to dive and to what limits and depth's

Where are you

Tue, 2008-02-12 17:31

Based sam
Just be carefull if you buy second hand gear you could get a good deal but also it could cost you more to get your regs fixed than what you paid for them, and you wont know till you try them also if your cylinder is not in test when you buy it it maybe past it and have to be condemmed
most scuba shops do good deals, I got a bc and regs for my brother in law (I didn't pay) at christmas from bell scuba in Rockingham for $1100.oo a 3mm wet suit about $99.00 wheight belt $45.00 fins $150 for a decent pair Mask about $100 for a decent one,A steel 100cf cylinder about $200 and of course you can just keep going up from there. dive courses abou $400.00 these days I beleive. about 13 years since I did mine!

I

Tue, 2008-02-12 18:48

got my ticket thru my local shop, Dolphin Dive in Welshpool. They link up sometimes with Dolphin dive in Freo which the skipper Marc, writes in the Dive log mag. He has a massive charter boat, does night dives, All day dives(3), puts on a feed etc. He has heaps of great dive marks. When and if you get your ticket, you have to do another course to dive officially deeper than 18m. Then you can dive the HMAS Swan in Dunno, that sits around 32m on the bottom. I reackon these days everyone who dives should have a appropriate ticket to suit, cause if anything happens, your dive buddy will get done too.

Hmm

Tue, 2008-02-12 18:52

well all the dive shops I have got cylinders filled want to se your c card and if they dont see it they dont fill it they are bound by law to ask for it as I understand I'll check it out and if it's out of test they wont fill it either. I agree you dont need a c card to buy the stuff it's only the air fills i was talking about
and you dont need a ticket to dive at all no one says you have to be certified! just like if you are certified as an open water no one can tell you not to dive to 40 mtrs or dive at night you just wont be able to dive on dive boats or charters!

Dive course is about $395

Tue, 2008-02-12 19:52

Dive course is about $395 and that includes everything, class room, pool, shore dives and two boat dives.

Most dive shops have Ezi-pay interest free deals now..... spend $3500 or more and get good gear it will last forever if you look after it and get it serviced. Oceanic gear has free parts for life if you have them serviced every 12 months.

Diving's one of the best things you can do, and it helps with your fishing as you get to see where fish are, the structure they live around and how they act or react.

Don't hesitate.....

And anyone can have a tank

Tue, 2008-02-12 19:54

And anyone can have a tank filled at a shop. A ticket is required to hire gear but not to buy gear.... And a dive boat will require you to show a ticket.....

Sorry but you are actually

Thu, 2008-02-14 06:34

Sorry but you are actually meant to show your own certification card!!! I think they don't ask because so many people over here have been diving for years without tickets, My nieghbour does the same unticketed, but like most unticketed you go to the same shop and they think you are certified.

C card

Wed, 2008-02-13 12:32

Just spoke to my dive shop proprietor and he says " it is not a LEGAL requirement to have a c card to have a cylinder filled however it is a condition of the training organization they are affiliated with in this case PADI for the customer requesting the fill to show their card if they dont they are not supposed to fill it and could be in trouble from PADI"
