scorpion fish spikes

Had first fish since ban other day ,went well except for my mate getting spiked by a scrorpion fish ,i believe the best thing in this case is hot water unfortunately none on board  that day but is there anything else to help with pain for these & gurnards

Mate don't get stung is my advice .I got done a while back 10hours on the water and never let up ,ended up at the docs ,I had hot water it was good until it went cold then the pain came back. I now just cut the hook of not worth the discomfort for your hook back.

hottest water you can stand

And what do you mean you had none on board, run the engine and use the telltale which is generally pretty warm.

Hot water also works great for wasp stings but do not use for bluebottle stings as it makes matters worse.

Scorpions are supposedly good eating

Tue, 2009-12-29 15:55

But I will be damned if I would even consider fillwting them, gurnards dont really pose the same problem but are no where near as common either.

Piss

Tue, 2009-12-29 18:37

If you don't have access to hot water piss, yes piss on it.It works, with the heat it can give some releif and some is heaps better than none at all.Have had a few cobbler, gurnard and stingray hit over the years working as a pro and its the simple things that usually work best

I could piss on it for ya if you ever got spiked mate. Would be my pleasure especially if ya got that shitty richmond shirt on. My aim can be a bit off though.
