Save $93 - Fishing From Boat License And Other License Renewals - Must Read!
Just thought I'd post a reminder for everyone. Not sure if it's been done before but... Just in case anyone was planning an extended long weekend fishing trip this weekend, don't forget you'll need a licence to fish from your boat come Tuesday 2nd March. It's $30 for each person.
Here are a few important links you might want to see...
You could also save yourself a packet if you buy an "Umbrella Licence" before the 2nd of March. If you get your Licence before this date, it will only cost you $87.00. If you wait till the 2nd March, it will cost you $180. That is $40 x 5 different licences = $200 - 10% discount = $20. So if you fish for everything, it's well worth renewing NOW! Even if you already have time left on your licences. It can be a bit confusing so have a good look at the links and ring fisheries if you're not sure. $93 is nothing to sneeze at!
Renew Your Licence Now And Save!
Remember - An "Umbrella" licence does NOT include the "Fishing From A Boat" licence! (Thanks Sarcasm0)
Hope this saves some people some pennies!

Umbrella licence
Something to be aware of since I got my umbrella licence in Nov. The current Umbrella licence covers: rock lobster, net, abalone, freshwater and marron. It does NOT contain the 30$ boat licence, or the new 40$? Western demersal licence. So it is still a saving, but not that much.

Where is this "Western
Where is this "Western Demersal Licence" you speak of? My old man was trying to tell me it was $150 for a year but I thought they scrapped that licence due to all the backlash from rec fishers. I can not find it anywhere on the Fisheries website. It would be listed in the new fee structure if you had to get one???

My Bad
I thought they were still keeping the Western Demersal Licence as a $40 catagory licence. Anyway, you still need to spend the $30 to fish from a boat on top of the 87$ umbrella fee.

No. 1 licence = 1 persons
No.
1 licence = 1 persons daily bag limit but anyone can fish under that licence.
2 licences = 2 persons daily bag limit and anyone can fish under licences etc etc.
I'm pretty certain that's the rules.

Its a shame they dont do
Its a shame they dont do that for marron or trout. One licence = only one snare for marron or one rod for trout. So even though i like to take my girlfriend freshwater bashing with me, if she wants her own rod or own snare she has to buy a license. Even though we mostly catch and release marron(allergic to them since 2005) and only ever get one trout per trip.
Seems strange when i can take her after crays and abalone and now seemingly boat fishing, and she can catch them towards my license limit.

2ND MARCH
the fisheries will take your money today for the new boat fishing licence but will not issue any cards until 2nd march Tuesday, you have to go into the fisheries dept and pay for the licence, online will be setup on the 2nd for online payments etc, all rock and shore fishing doesnt require a licence, so basically everyone can apply online Tuesday for a new $ 30.00 boat licence , lets see how their computer system stands up with the inrush of aplications and iam amazed a the little amount of press.tv adverts that have been on lately

Wrasses do sound like what you would catch rod ;) I suspect u might need one license to permit fishing as what they catch goes towards your limit so one would cover u as u release and could then keep a duhi if u caught one ...

Just tried to pay for my license online. Don't bother as you will get all the way through only to find RFBL is not yet a option.
So 10 minutes on the phone to someone and now someone will have to call me back, according to the machine..Not holding breath.

I agree Rod
Seems ridiculous to have to wait until the day. They obviously think fishermen go fishing in trading hours rather than at first light.
If Tuesday's weather starts looking good on seabreeze, I might take the trip down to Hillaries DoF before then.
Cheers

I called Fisheries earlier today. The license can be purchased now and they will issue a receipt but only in person. From Tuesday you can purchase on-line.
"Apparently" they will only be issues cautions for the first few weeks.

What A Joke
The way Fisheries is run is a bit of a joke. There website is very confusing to navigate. They still have old rules posted on there site so if you get lost and click the wrong thing, you can be led astray ie. A couple of weeks back, I was checking some crabbing rules and found some rules that said I could catch 20 per person/40 per boat!

There you go. And you'll never see any fisheries officers down there to tell them any different either! If Fisheries can't get it right, what hope have we got?
