Sambo Jigging Bonanza

Had a day fishing soft plastics and metal jigs off Cape Naturaliste with Hlokk and Damo6230 on Saturday. We released 30 Sambos and lost many more. It was an absolutely awesome day. They weren't big fish but they smashed us hard every time. We were hoping for some Snapper and possibly a YTK but alas! Those Sambos just kept on coming. We did manage some Sargeant Baker and Skippy as well.

Interesting that there was so many smaller sambos around.
Matt, I think you are after my skippy king title.

couldn't have asked for a better day after the 10.5 month wait for my jaw to heal.

arms are sore now...ha ha. caught plenty of sambo's but they do pull harder when jigged. better organise my jigging combo ASAP.

managed to get Matt some fish Monday but nothing like this session.

looking forward to our next session (no bait club)

Good stuff boys, I'm yet to catch a Sambo but thats possibly because I have'nt targeted them, just might hook one when I'm not expecting it. I'm off for a look in the morning and again this weekend. Hey BJ are you going out this weekend?

Good day out and not a scrap

Good day out and not a scrap of bait on board (well, except for the cuttlefish that sargeant baker coughed up).

I ended up getting two same sized sambos, one on each jig assist hook which was interesting. Caught a few on the light 12lb gear, some came up fine, but two went  super hard screaming off the drag for some reason (and the one landed wasnt even that big). Bit of fun watching the reel scream out that fast (had to palm it to stop it busting off)

Yep! Matt did catch 2 Sambos on 1 Jig rig but unfortunately the pictures didn't come out too good, otherwise I would have put them up. Thank you Matt for the knowledge I gained from the day.

Not sure what day I will go out this weekend yet Kev, but whatever day it is, you can bet I will do some jigging!
