rotto

couple of things.

Hit the water yesterday and went to rotto to check the pots. Got a few crays so this was good.

Went for a cruise around tommos, and saw the police boat (the big one) doing convoys of boats out towards parker point??
Then saw a fisheries boat doing another convoy?? all leaving from tommos bay, maybe 15-18 boats at a time.

Anyone know what that was all about??

Spotter plane was up and about yesterday and today, doing laps of rotto.

Today saw 2 flares go off in tomo's bay?? whats the penalty for setting off a false flare?? anyone know?

Today was a great day on the water, got our abs, got some crays, got in for a dip.

Managed to hit a nice KG with the straight hook which was a bonus!!

Training

I'm pretty sure it was for people who have boats but weren't to sure of themselves heading out to rotto, like a convoy training type deal.

it was to do with the annual

it was to do with the annual Rotto convoy for boats 5m +. Pay a hundred dollars to register, go over in a convoy and all the way you learn radio skills, flares boating etc. The flares may have been a demo which they do to show people how to use them. Apparently they stay overnight at Rotto, have a quiz or bingo night them head home the following day.

They did one the week before

They did one the week before as well, had a convoy of about 10 -15 boats come into parkers do a u-turn and head off to the next bay, they had 3 volunteer boats, front middle and back looking after them. Its a really good idea for those people that are unfamiliar with getting into reefy bays, some yacht clubs also organize a yearly thing like this.

Just got back from a dive

Mon, 2009-11-23 17:25

Just got back from a dive over there, forget diving in less than 10m it was berried female after berried female after berried female - 5 in a row. I gave up and looked for whites then.

A little deeper is better ATM.
