Ripped off
Something not fishing related.How ripped off are fathers at xmas time?We work 12+hours a day 6/7 days a week on the lead up to the so called break,then we get the old honey i bought the kids a present today.I could not pick it up can you take the trailer and get it.At this point you know you are screwed.It is one of two things 1.Too heavy to lift on your own or worse2. FLAT PACK.So here starts the fun you get home from work on xmas eve just to know that you need to put it together while the kids are asleep.Then you start to assemble it to find that the tight arse company that made it save money on screws so when you use a cordless drill it strips ,bends or snaps.Then when you finally get it together the little bastard at the Flat Pack co has thought i F@*k with this guy and throws in 3 or 4 screws to many.All finished go to bed get dragged out of bed in the morning by the kids and wife,go out to watch the kids open their pressies to get told to take pics of the kids faces .Then the kids get told that SANTA bought them the gift you slaved to put together(THE FAT LAZY RED SUITED BAST#@D DID SQUAT)Then you finally sit down to lunch to get told not to eat all the prawns that you worked overtime to catch or buy because the freeloaders that came over to eat all your food and trash your house might want more.Then they all go home and leave you the mess to clean up.Go to bed with the thought of going for a fish on boxing day or watch the cricket ,a smile creeps on to your dial just to get wiped off by the statement I THINK WE WILL GO TO THE XMAS SALES TOMORROW I will need a hand with the kids.OOOHHHHH SH@T im screwed again.Then next year it will happen all over again GOD BLESS THE KIDS You guys all have a GREAT XMAS and I will see you next year Have a safe holiday .

That story sounds familiar allrounder (for many years!!!!!!) But now our kids have grown and have moved on.. I say moved on and not moved out because one is here for the night
LOL.
Now they have grown and have kids of thier own it is payback time because they can start going through what you just described for themselves
Oh No... just got the reminder from the Missus.... I'll be back in a while "Have to go put all the Grand Kids toys, flatpacks etc together". Hope thay included the right amount of screws because if there are any leftover I might get confused

It is a bit tongue in cheek .I wouldn't swap it for the world.The mother in law and i have an agreement she gets pissed at me and i have to steal as many xmas chocolates as i can before i get caught .Great times .I always get stuck with cutting up the pork and as a responsible cook you are supposed to taste test to ensure the freshness LOL that is my excuse and i am sticking to it i will get out for a fish over the weekend.

love it cant wait until the twins are a bit older so i can take all 3 out for a fish.I turn into the biggest kid at xmas.I will see you in the new year and we will get out for a bash when the wind makes up its mind.I am sick of washing dust off the boat instead of salt

The missus was kind enough to tell me a couple of hours ago there were some boxes of stuff in the shed that needed putting together. Kids will be happy in the morning so alls good.

Oh, yes. And add to that the fact tools and I are the worst of friends and you get another level of complexity to the mix. Thankfully those days are long gone. Problem is presents are now magnitudes more expensive.
We are in the same position as you Dagree - kids "moved on but not moved out". Today has been very quiet so far - daughter is house sitting somewhere in the northern suburbs so will probably see her later today & son has gone to Moore River with fiance so will probably see him tonight. So just missus & I. Sweet.

the wrapping of presents, buying for everybody, Wednesday 24/11 cooked for 8hrs, chicken, turkey breast, sat down about 7.30pm totally stuffed, miss the kids to do what you have said allrounder, treasure it while they are young, as they grow up all too quickly. The laugher in the morning, getting woken up at 6.00am, god I slept in till 8.30am. Enjoy people. hope you all had a lovely Xmas Day.
