Resturant sized marron

Just went away to the deep south for a few days and stopped in for lunch at a nice little place. They had marron on the menu, so of course, I had to indulge. 2 marron and salad thankyou very much. I then sat back and watched the marron in the fishtank ranging in sizes from just legal to impressive. However I was very surprised at the size of the five marron halves that where served up on my plate. Surprised

These are yabbies was my first thought!!! Yell

The biggest may of gone 55/60mm carapace but the others where well less than that.

Can somebody tell me if it is even legal to serve up undersize marron? Im sure they have there own marron ponds so its not like they are poaching or anything like that but I still thought the marron would have to be of legal size?

Size of Marron

I'n not too sure of the minimum size but if they are licenced breeders/growers they do not have to worry about the size limits that we have to conform to.If you buy them live you have to keep the receipt with them at all times because if you get pulled over for fisheries inspection without it you cannot prove where you got them from.If no receipt look forward to a big fine
