Tips
Swans v Roos – this will be the biggest test the Roos have faced so far this season. While I like the Roos ‘underrated’ midfield, the Swans have some big mids that are really hard to close down in Kennedy & Hannebery. Parker is in red hot form, as is Buddy who is looking worth his million bucks this year. I also think with Sinclair in the side Tippett is playing his best footy since joining the Swans – I have not seen enough of them to figure out why, but suspect Tippett is getting more time around the contest. I’ll be backing the Swans – they seem to have the edge all over the ground and if they can shut down the Kangaroos forward combination that will go a long way to securing the points. Swans by 16pts.
Lions v Hawks – if ever a team would be keen to bounce back, it will be the Hawks. A little reminder last week that they are not the same team as last year – it will be interesting to see how some of their more mature players are faring at the business end of the season. The Lions keep showing us how far behind the pack they are though, and if the Hawks are in Brisbane to play, they should win comfortably. Hawks by 39pts.
Dees v Port – Thuggery aside, there was a lot to like about Port on the weekend. They played hard footy and moved the ball quickly with precision when they forced a turnover. The Dees are looking so much better this year. They already have 5 wins, compared to 7 for the whole of 2015. Port have won the previous two encounters at this venue – and you would think the warm, dewy conditions would suit their skilful and fast moving play. Port have the extra day’s break…needed after the West Coast game. I’m leaning towards them, just. Port by 11pts.
Saints v Freo – so I backed Freo last weekend, thinking they couldn’t get any worse. It turns out they could. It’s always hard to tip against the Saints at Etihad as they play electric footy there. Freo have been there twice this year for two losses….I suspect it will be three. Saints by 23pts.
Scum v Tigers – Roar! The Tigers are back. Ready to make their late season surge into 9th place. The should beat the Scum, who have been competitive and will win games if they start stringing together four quarter efforts. On the back of momentum and confidence, Tigers by 42pts.
Crows v GWS – massive test for both teams. The Crows get a chance to redeem themselves at home after that loss to the Cats. GWS face one of the tougher road trips to take. On form, GWS will go in as rightful favourites. Full of confidence and playing beautifully. I just have a feeling that this weekend is going to be a big blip on their season – Crows to win big by 64pts.
Blues v Cats – I don’t think we will see the Cats as motivated as we will when they run out this weekend. Don’t want to discount the Blues, but these teams are a fair way apart. Cats by 53pts.
Pies v Dogs – tough one to call this one. Pies shocked the footy world last week – and we all know what confidence can do. The Dogs are down on luck with their depth being heavily tested and playing at the MCG where they typically don’t go as well. I think this will be a close game throughout, but the Dogs have everything to play for and will know it. I’m expecting them to bring everything to the contest and win a thriller. Dogs by 7pts.
Eagles v Suns – Suns will be coming over and paying looooong odds. Rightly so based on what they have dished up recently. I don’t expect this to be as lop sided as most will expect though. The Eagles will be pretty banged up after last week and might be a bit slow out of the blocks. Changes possible to both sides, but they shouldn’t impact the result. Eagles by 37pts in a game where they never get out of 2nd gear.

Yep norton 10 this week.
Yep norton 10 this week. Couple tough games to pick. I think sydney will beat north at the scg. Hawthorn and melbourne. Richmond adelaide and geelong wont drop two in a row to lowly teams. West coast and i am going with the bulldogs, but i am sure collingwood will do everything possible to shaft my tipping yet again.

I’ll call it a win win , I at least seen a little something from the dockers but didn’t lose my tip .. Blakely legend well done son picked up 25 disposals , Collins impressed ..hopefully we’ll get some consistency and manage 4 qtrs of it going forward . Going to be a long pre season but at least we’ll have some depth come 2017 with hopefully some guns back on board ..

Well they did tease us, but I've kept my tipping intact. Lot to like from the young blokes. There's more than a few playing for their careers though. That was some spray at quarter time, one of the very best.

Gutted, but happy with a few
Gutted, but happy with a few things i saw. Responded well to the spray they deserved. Collins impressive in his first game. Blakely a great game. Weller useful. Langdon didnt see much but still popped up for two and should have had a free kick in front when he was tripped. Crozier potentially his best game for the club.
And then there are the more senior players....
Barlow - needed a spray to get going. Not good enough. De boer - barely saw him. Suban - time for a wafl stint. Pav - pains me to say it, but he needs to sit next weekend out, have a rest and give apeness a run. Pav looks okd and tired.
Mayne - was solid. Ballantyne - worked hard but is seriously down on form. Walters - not his crisp clean self. Hill - looked like he carried the injury into the game.
So close, but still so far.

Freo need to piss off the old
Freo need to piss off the old guys. Footy in this class isn't about being nice. What can De boer Suban and plenty more of 'em teach the young guys when the young guys are already better than them. My favourite footballer of all time is sadly all but finished. Its a shame when you are forced to play on and make a mug of yourself after all those years of excellence. He maybe out there to guide the likes of Tabener in the art of forward football. Is that why he is out there ? Please Freo play more youngers. If Freo start to win a couple they will more than likely hang on to old crop..bad move

One thing i liked about today's effort... i dont think i have seen the blood rule invoked more during a game of footy. Lots of players from both sides getting stuck in hard. There werent any nancys out there today.

Perhaps you should the game
Perhaps you should watch the game before commenting. The young blokes stood tall. They were hard at it. The score blew out at the end because the freo youngsters took thr game on and pushed hard and got caught up on the turn overs. Would rather that than being too indecisive.
People can poke fun all they want. I really dont give a shit. We're getting games into kids. And later this year, and next year, we'll have some pretty handy players back.
Sandi, mundy, fyfe, bennell. Motabito is developing as a running defender. Pearce (alex) will improve his upper body strength while he is out.
The present is tough and fall has been much further and quicker than anyone would have seen.
But i think the climb back up is also going to surprise people too.

Good report Bushy
No one was going to pick Carlton over the cats.
Tough every week, but a couple of games to get right will be Cats V GWS, Freo V ESS, WB V WC and Pies V Port. It doesnt get any easier.
Pies lose 3 good players to injury.
God knows Ess look horrible, as do Freo. Draw ??? 1/19/25 each
WC record at Etihad against WB not good.Dogs in close will win more contested possesion than WC. Nic Nat won't have it all his way in the ruck.
GWS haven't proved themselves when having to travel, Kardinia park not an easy ground to play, especially if windy, and it generally is.
