my mate was using a daiwa
my mate was using a daiwa expedition on a smith rod and i was using the okuma salina 2 on a daiwa catalina rod. Maiden trip for the okuma and it did well, I wasnt sure how it would perform but drag was good and although they werent huge sambos it handled them well.

Okuma Salina II Spinning Reel
Beefed up and ready for action! The all NEW Salina II is like a glistening beam of sunlight straight into the eyes of the beholder – sexy, smooth and strong! Designed specifically for heavy braided jigging and other big fish encounters; these reels won’t let you down.
The main gear is helical cut from high density material – 50% stronger than standard gearing, and combines with a machine cut brass pinion gear to produce a drive train that is smooth, efficient, and ideal for tough fishing conditions and punishing fishing methods.
An oversized screw-in aluminium handle provides a non-slip grasp on the drive of the reel ensuring no pressure is lost during those gut wrenching battles; match this design to a machine cut alloy round handle knob and you have a purchase point that is unbeatable when brute force is the only way in!
Salina II reels have a dual force drag system incorporating oiled felt washers; a multi-disk drag in the front of the spool works in conjunction with a secondary drag at the back of the spool to maximise high drag pressures and give a smooth release of line. Other features are an oversized bail arm, elliptical oscillation for improved line lay, Okuma’s Rotor Equalizing System, 5 corrosion resistant stainless bearings, a quick set anti-reverse roller bearing and Okuma’s “Hydro Bloc” seal which protects the drag system from moisture. The frame, side plate and rotor are rigid machine cut diecast aluminium and the spool is vented aluminium designed to be used under high pressure situations.
Grab one now but hold on tight as the Salina II takes you on the ride of your life!
It used to hurt when I got cock in my ass......now I can take three at once and not feel a thing!
