Perth FADS - Latest report required please

Now that I'm unemployed again....I have a chance to get out to the FADS.  I think tomorrow will be my first and last chance for this season.

A heads up on whether the FADS are at there locations would be great to save some fuel.

Anyone been recently?

Cheers Pete

Hey mate

Wed, 2010-04-28 19:46

if you have a look at the FADs tab up top on the menu bar then have a look at the bottom of that page, the page the FAD co-ordinates are on.

FADS

I can say that the Furuno FAD is there and in its proper spot , as I had a quick cast there a week and a half ago after checking out a couple of other marks, the bad news is that there was nothing there. If I was making a day of it , I'd be going to the DEEP ones.

Furuno

I was very fortunate the Furuno FAD was only a snap decision at the time, if I was relying on it for a feed, I'd still be hungry!!

Jamie, you picked an awesome day for a fish today, I'm working no more than 600 meters from the beach, on an elevated site, and looked sensational all day!! TORTURE!!

Conditions did improve, but the morning was pretty lousy, if thats any consolation. Today was as close as I've ever come to falling off Alfred's boat!

Two years ago...

Wed, 2010-04-28 19:12

...the one remaining FAD was left out until the 20th of May. I think it depends on whether the PGFC has any more tournaments scheduled and also the availability of the TAFE vessel which is used to retrieve them. I would not take the website as gospel...don't know how else you could find out, I suppose just keep your eyes and ears open...but if they do get left for a later retrieval, any dollys out there should be BIG.

i was out there 2 weeks ago now, at the closest fad, it was not there or i could not find it, one of the two.

either way, kept on fishing and come back in close to get some nice fish.

would be keen to hear from other fishos, but i have been getting better fish in close at the moment. 20-40mtrs.

this is out from freo of course, south side of rotto.

The one closest to Rotto

The one closest to Rotto gets toasted often, its called CM. Apparently the ships drag it *a lot*.

had one like that on sunday for an hour or two.

i would of still rather be out there with no drift/no fish than driving my  truck looking at the rigs floating around, calling them/you all sorts of names. ha ha ha

lucky you!

The dollies that I have seen

Wed, 2010-04-28 21:33

The dollies that I have seen this year are all pretty small.  Haven't seen one over a meter yet, but I am sure there are some out there.  Anyone landed a decent one yet?

I saw one quite easily over

Thu, 2010-04-29 10:28

I saw one quite easily over a meter, it was swimming boatside with my popper in its mouth for a while, then it decided it preferred to keep the popper as a souvenier Yell

(wasnt at the FAD's though...).

Havent boated a dollie this year, and sounds like I wont get a chance (maybe exi, but not as much fun on heavier trolling gear)

Seen a few over a meter, but I have spent an awfully large amount of time out there this year.

Haven't seen a big on landed yet though!

Latest - Well last Thursday

Mon, 2010-05-03 16:00

Headed out from Rotto to PGFC - very green dirty water, no dollys present.

Headed south to next FAD...it doesn't exist.  Hmmm, head north, or the last one south.  Headed south to All marine.  Still very green water but we manged to raze a few dollys.  Four kept with one just over a metre.

All taken on lures - one to a small stick, one to a deep diver, one to a shallow diver and one to a red marron softy hehehe; didn't I get a ribbing for pulling that out first up.....it got smashed!

Cheers Pete
