short answer yes it will do the job but not a great one, make sure you play around with it and test the drag with scales etc.

Yah rule of thumb is 1/3 but
Yah rule of thumb is 1/3 but better you get at knowing your gear sometimes you can get it to 1/1, honestly i think that reel wont go past 7-8kg max drag but could be wrong, usually you take the reading with the rod fully loaded, knowing the rod is important too as it can slowly train you what drag is set just by the bend and load in the rod, so you can back it off or tighten it more, theres many different styles i guess stick with what your comfortable with.

Will do for now
See how you go. If you want to upgrade go for a Penn international 30 tw or the likes. Some common balloon spots get heavey shark activity so when you get a hook up up you want to winch the mackie in before you get sharked. An international will set you back 300 - 400 second hand on eBay

Yes
Yes it's a big one we got land based at quobba this year. I haven't fished wagoe before although I would like to. Ballooning is hard to explain over the Internet I only started recently myself but got shown by some experienced mates. I think someone explained the rig most people use on a post recently if you have any questions pm me
cheers rig
