New Sounder

Hi All,

I currently have a lowerance x67c sounder which is on it's way out (screen has white lines through it).  I have about $800-1000 to spend on a new sounder. Does anyone have any recommendations?  I've heard the Furuno's are pretty good though I believe these are slightly over my budget!

cheers

Wayne

cheers guys - Russ (or sandy:)) is that the FCv-585?  Have been reading through some posts regarding the 585 and it looks pretty good.  Do you know which is the smaller model - would it be the FCV-620?

Where did you get your 585 from?

cheers

the smaller model is the FCV-620. I think they are retailing around the $1600 - $1800 mark.

But they do have a $300 cash back offer on for them at the moment (I think thats what the sign said?). Ends Sept 30th.

If you can stretch it the FCV-620 is a quality unit, I got one recently from Hayway Marine for $1500, Furuno have a rebate offer atm of $100 cash back as well.

Once again - thanks for your responses - such a helpful site!!

I've read up on both the FCV-620 and the Lowrance HDS-5X.  I'm going to hold of a few more weeks and see if I can talk the mrs into the 620 - might have to work some weekends;)  If I can't get the extra cash together I think i'll go for the Lowrance HDS-5X.

How does the FCV-620 go with direct sun on the screen?  Where it's placed (on top of a side console) it's a little exposed so just wondering how the display reads with direct sunlight?

cheers

Well worth the extra coin the FCV620 Wayne, the screen is sunlight/daylight viewable. My 620 is on my centre console also and no probs!
