New Karratha alcohol rules

swung by Karratha this morning to get some shopping done and went to BWS to stock up on some beers, gee we had to jump through hoops. Once we told them we were tourists it got easier, but I still had to fill out forms, which then I might add, were forwarded onto the police. Actually made me feel bad about buying a couple of cartons of VB.

But if it will help reduce domestic violence and punch ups generally then I am all for it. Mind you having had 11 accidents involving drunken drivers running into me I hold fairly strong views on the subject but love a drink at home

You can go from one bottle shop to the next if you only wanted 2 or 3 cartons .. It would save time filling outpaperwork and what mosttlocals seem to be suggesting now

When I was in Hedland just before Christmas BWS wouldn’t let me buy two 30 blocks of export but they would let buy 2cartons of corona. The bloke said only one carton of aussie beer but I could get 2 cartons of import. Go figure???

Probably should of but its not the employees fault, they are just doing what they are told by management. The funny thing is that all the other liquor shops would sell me two cartons at one no dramas. I went to South Hedland and brought 3 x bottles of that Kimberley Rum and two blocks of export, and it wasnt a problem. I reckon BWS are trying to implement this into the town and make it work to their advantage as like Liquorland in South Hedland they have the location in the shopping mall.

Wonder how the Company Christmas and other Parties would
go. My neighbour when I lived in Kcity owned a company and had some large Xmas and other parties. I wouldn't have a clue how many cartons etc he would buy, but how do you now plan for this.
Have not looked at the finer detail about whether companies are exempt but could create a problem if there was no exemption.
As usual a few created problem for the many.

The ban won't/can't work because there is no way of Policing it. What we need is the Banned Drinker Registered card and while introducing that bring in the Cashless Welfare card to IMO.

More crazy restrictions in Port Headland, swung by today, motorhome and all to prove I was a tourist only to find I couldn’t even get a box of VB, all the regular packaged beers are banned. Shock horror. Spoke to a bloke outside, he has advised me that premium beers are exempt. So a combination of James Boags, Fat Yaks and James Squire was ok. Go figure.

Totally agree with the AHA on this one. It's time for the various agencies and organisations to sort out the minority who are impinging on the rights of the vast majority of law abiding citizens.
We are about to get the same bullshit up here in Broome and it is all because we get an influx of indigenous people coming in and camping wherever they fall over, pissing and shitting wherever they feel like and just generally being a bunch of neanderthal pigs.
These people have government supplied housing in their own regions but get away with coming here and doing what they please, if a white person did this shit they would be locked up and procecuted.
