New to fishing.

Hey all, I think this is the right place to post this, if not tell me and i will move it.

Well, I have been reading through the website and it seems that you guys know your stuff when it comes catching.....well near enough anything.

I am relatively new to fishing although I used to go with my dad as a kid in the UK, but here in the pilbara is different.

I don't have any sort of gear and I will mainly be fishing from a land based situation as i don't have regular access to a boat, I'm on a fairly tight budget but want to get started as soon as possible, what I need is some reccomendations on kit, areas to fish, bait, and what I can expect to catch.

I know I am completey green to fishing in the pilbara but any help to get me started will be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance

Welcome Neal,

Quite a fair few local K-Town crew, as Jay has said, just ask mate and I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

Cheers,

Adam

You are certainly in the right place to be starting fishing. There are not many better fishing areas around.
We have some gun anglers up your way and IU am sure they can help.

My information is a bit dated as I haven't lived in Karratha for a long time, but if you are looking at landbased spots then Point Samson is hard to beat, and the rivermouth near Cossack is also a great spot.

There is a beach behind Hampton Oval that has some pretty good fishing at night.

Gear wise, you would want a good strong rod of about 7 to 9 foot in length, a good strong eggbeater reel, about 6000 to 8000 size should do, some 10 to 20 kilo braid and 40 to 60 pound leader material, some ball sinkers and some 5/0 or 6/0 hooks.

JUST WATCH THE TIDES
