Montes/Exmouth May 2011

Hey Guys,

Just returned from a week up at the Montes/Exmouth. Had a ball with a big diverse range of species coming in on the jigs. Spaniards and Asstd trevs on the stickbaits :)Only got a small pop in for the week, which was a bit dissapointing, hard with a lot of diehard bottom bashing punters on board.

What a place! I want to head back there ASAP..

Here's a couple of pics from the trip, enjoy!

Cheers,

Sam

Thats a lot of damn fine fish there Sam. At least with the bottom bashers you still got into some on the surface action. How's the photo of the jigged spaniard!

Didn't say that was a bad thing mate, i enjoyed jigging the bottom fish while you guys fished out the back..

Was good to meet and fish with you all, with plenty of fish caught.

That barge was a close call yes, thankfully nothing majorly went wrong!

May i ask which bloke were you smiley?

Some great looking  fish there Sam! There's a small group of us coming over from Victoria to fish the Monte's in August Just wondering what brand of Stickbaits and jigs you used and did you use any soft plastics? Cheers, Shane

Shane,

For the jigs the standout was clearly the Sevenseas Hooker 160g, others that did well were IMA Ro's 120g and Daiwa Sacrifice Leafs 160g

Maria Bullchops, Shimano Ocea's, Yambal Diners and Megabass Dog-X were successfull stickbaits for me.

McArthy softies didnt last long on the bottom out there, anything from 5-8" was working, in pearl and pink/pearl.

Colours were important as Blue/Pink or Pink/Silver were the jigs colour of choice.

Have a good trip mate, youll love it
