Montes tips
Hi all.
Have booked my holidays and we are now officially off to karratha for 2 weeks starting the 25th of July! Staying at a mates in karratha and if the weather is kind we are hopefully going to venture out and explore the Montes! Cant wait!
Been doing a fair bit of reading from the old forums, magazines etc etc and seems like there is alot of valuable info and knowledgable people out there. Im fairly inexperienced in up north fishing, especially popping but into everything from trolling, jigging, plastics, hard bodies, and bottom bouncing and love to get wet have a bit of a dive.
So really just chasing any little tips or hints in regards to areas to target, good camping areas, must haves or things we wont need, not chasing specifics just ideas.... or any good stories to get me pumped up for the trip!
my mate has a 7m glass cat and considering towing a small tinny across for exploring the shallows n to save on precious petrol, most likely launch at fortescue.
Thanks in advance
Bryn

Would be possible with 2 cars
Would be possible with 2 cars but maybe not worth the extra effort. May as well just leave from Dampier and carry the extra fuel.
Its mostly the smaller rigs that use Fortescue as it saves 40 extra km of open water.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

yeah. thanks... have done alot of reading on here and the info has been great and answered alot of my questions.
the launching and retrieving has been talked about, but apparently his boat has been launched there by the previous owner? so hopefully with the right gear and preparation we will be ok. but will definately look into it further, not really wanting the headaches!
Maybe some tips on a good island to camp that is fairly central and a protected mooring area?
thanks

try this site for what
try this site for what islands can be camped on then check out google earth for beaches and suitable access.

I've camped on 2 different islands there and saw quite a few other beaches that were suitable. Half the fun is finding it yourself.

Would be more worried about
Would be more worried about the weather turning and having to contend with 40 knot easterlies this time of year than whales.
