METRO GOLD PART II - IN SEARCH OF HOTDOGS FOOLS GOLD

Well, me and Daz had another Metro troll session......trying to top the previous METRO GOLD session of maccies and YFT......Hotdogs bailed, some feeble excuse of being a sensible husband and father or something............

We all know how something like this ends.........................trolled for nearly 4 hours with a good spread of 4, over all our previously successful ground, and not a single touch....................I thought it was only fair to put up a post of the hard luck day to even out some of the previous posts we have  put up where it all seemed peaches and cream..........it sure aint like that every session, thats for sure........

Fair bit of weed around and a distinct lack of bait balls compared with every other session we did last week......something has changed.

Is that the end of the Metro pelagics phenomenon.....I doubt it, but they sure weren't there this arvo.Anyone else have a go? We only saw two other boats out having a troll....in failry poor conditions.

Off to cook up some more chilli a dgarlic crusted yellowfin tuna on the BBQ.........it aint all bad.

John

the water is really stirred

Sun, 2011-04-10 20:31

the water is really stirred up. Sea weed has been churned up, so later in the week may be better. The water doesn't cool overnight.

Bad luck guys, the feed on the barby doesn't seem all that bad at all though. Thanks for the invite too, still would of rather a troll for nothing than a dinner with the mother in law haha

There are loads of baitballs

Sun, 2011-04-10 22:32

There are loads of baitballs down south at the moment.  We trolled around the Eagle Bay stretch on Saturday and they were everywhere, massive sizes too.

Water temp was 22.7 degrees.  Not sure how that compares with temps around here?

Plenty of tuna for the guys

Sun, 2011-04-10 23:29

Plenty of tuna for the guys using small skirts / christmas trees but unfortunately we only had divers so the fish were sparse.

Don't know about the mackies, didn't see any boated but we didn't spend too long in the area, just passing through after a bottom bouncing session a bit further around the corner.

We went out for a bash on

Mon, 2011-04-11 08:29

We went out for a bash on Saturday morning off Mindarie.

Trolled from around 545 through till 10am. Spent as much time clearing weed on a spread of 4 lures as we did fishing, and didnt get a touch.

Ended up bailing as it was getting a bit bumpy, had one green wave break over the windshield of the boat soaking us both on the way back home!

Hoping I haven't left my run too late to get that metro makkie this year! Oh well, 13 days till Exxy :-)

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
