Marron season 2010

I am looking at getting down south coast area  coinciding with marron season  as I have too many weeks of holidays owing and if I don’t take them soon they will force me to take them at there discretion. Anyway after not getting a chance to go marroning these last couple of years (young family) it is time to get back amongst it again. So what I am trying to find out is the dates for the 2010 season. Last year it started on the 16th of Jan but it is usually tied in with moon phases so should be different in 2010. I hope to tow the boat down south and also do some fishing as well. I would like to book my holidays soon but couldn’t find anything on the gov fishing sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They usually announce it

fairly late in the piece. Probably best to ring fisheries and see if they can help.

thanks mate, have organised a stint in walpole mid-late january for some fishing and marroning. hope they are still around in some of my old haunts as its a couple of years since i last went. I have been marroning for the last 30 odd years and they sure have become harder to come by. If i get a feed this year I will be happy.

Will be staying at rest point, 4.85 trailcraft, 2 families, 4 kids. Do you do any offshore fishing while there? could head out together if you like. I have been going there since I was a kid (many years).
