Marron in a pond

Howdy,
Does anyone here (South of the river) keep marron in a pond for observation purposes rather than eating? I have a quick question but it needs to be via PM...

Water quality is critical
We tried some in a pond with excellent ph, oxygen levels etc and they walked out.

Had a mate do the same Gordon
Had a mate do the same Gordon and he had a huge pond. They walked out and some got cooked in the heat.

I have one in a fish tank and feel like a bit of a bastard....but it cannot escape.

They'll walk as soon as
They'll walk as soon as they're not happy with the water and they'll destroy any air stone pipes you put in there

I have in the past
Kept a fair few in a outside pond with goldfish. They were introduced to water from the "wild" when "smallish".
The pond had water plants which the marron ate as well as being fed protein pallets.
They bred prolifically which over crowded the pond and the larger marron went walk about find them upto 70 odd meters away from pond.
Give them places to hide i.e. bricks with holes pvc pipe sections with one end blocked.
If you wish to breed put bunched up shade cloth in pond for the juveniles a place to hide.
Water was alway being circulated through a eco stlye filter.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

My in-laws bought a house
My in-laws bought a house from a bloke who had converted a full size kidney shaped swimming pool into a pond and it was crawling with marron. They eventually emptied it and fillled it in.
