hey guys one of my workmates is going to margaret river at christmas time , and he and his daughter are casual fishers can anyone tell me is there any river fishing or a jetty or calm bay they can fish with small estuary rods ??? any info would be good as i've never been there cheers

There is,
a large lagoon at Prevelly which is protected from swells by the outer reefs. There's resonable fishing for Herring, Whiting, skippy. I wouldn't recommend fishing from the jetty at the boat ramp, can be dangerous in even a small swell. Lots of boats around too.
Fishing in the river is hard, need kayak/canoe but there are Bream in there. Good luck and it will be busy at that time of year.

Depending how far they want
Depending how far they want to travel, they could go to the blackwood (either on the river or at the rivermouth/augusta) or to dunsborough area. Both would be calm, but about 30-40min drive for each.
Though, if you're making an arvo/day of it, not too bad. Plus you can always stop by at places after (chocolate factory, simmos, etc :p)
