Live baiting Pilbarra style

Something new to try. Will go and get some from the pylons. Question is for demersals like trout etc do you add a sinker to sort off trap it, let it swim free with a nice solid and heavy live bait hook that will fatigue it anyway etc.
Also best to hook through the front of the pectoral or behind. I would have thought behind knowing fish up here tend to eat fish head first, ie not like Tailor.
Any help will be usefull.

Was going to the pylons, get some Yakkas or whatever they are called (hope you not from the East because I hate Eastern state names) in shallowish water for Coral trout. Somewhere like Courtney shoal or Madelein. If the wind picks up head in some lea with a few spots we have ID so far.
Remeber my deckie is my lady and wandering where you guys go will take time. Have to admit the girl has gone from scared even to go to west Lewis and we have been to West Reef, and almost to the patch. She is progressing leaps and bounds. Felt sick originally in a .5 sea with kwells. Now she doesnt mind "going out?? and coming back in 30knt wind!!! Still use Kwells but I the it is Psychological now ratehr than a need.
She has a back problem and the Traicraft "bangs" as you knw so its slow but I recon that makes seasickness worst, but that is not the problem.

I have two kids mate... but you bring up a good point, are we going to have a Ktown FW Chrissy party? if so, some early notice would be good instead of just saying oh this weekend.
have a go at dropping a bait jig down where you are bottom bashing, flag and red bass (i think thats what they are called, the jack looking things) are good bait. I have hooked some big trout on them. but as craig said, i have hooked some stonka sharks on them as well.

I have just about given up on the livies because of them,Chissy bash would be a good idea ,somewhere the kids can play maybe swim what about a island as most have boats.Pick a morning meet up weekend wise and bring shade and eskys.Im sure my missus would be up for it.
