line class for exxy
Submitted by Webby on Thu, 2010-05-06 10:23
Just need some advice, I have a tld25 spooled with about 500m of 10kg that i use for sailies around dampier. I am not sure if I should re-spool with a heavier line class (15 or 24) or if I will get away with the 10 for exxy next week? going to be using it for trawling for blacks ect. Cheers

next door nieghbour hooked a 220kg plus black live baiting for little blacks in 55m of water on 15 kg ...3 hours later the leader scuffed through .to say he was rooted would be an understatement.ide be looking at 15 at least.if not 24kg .the fight is shorter and the fish release alot healther.ide be wacking 24 braid on then over shoot with say 100m of mono so youve still got plenty of line on ya tld and when that knot comes back your dot will relax ..haha

15kg for stickfaces IMO
if you have 10kg it'll be ideal for mackies.

I was reading up, the reel
I was reading up, the reel can only take around 360yards of 24kg which is not enough, so i might go the 600m of 15kg

tld 20s
We've been using tld20's on the work boat with 24, haven't hooked a donkey in the last 3 months and its been able to cover everything we've caught upto 50kg quiet easily. The only crappy part is the retrieval rate, sucks donkeys!
