did that boat have a 300hp motor on the back , if so i saw him driving up the freeway like a madman 2 days ago and that boat and car look familiar, made a nice mess of things, at least no one got hurt

Was a bit in our todays local paper about it.
Both new 4x4 and boat were considered write offs and the two people in it were not injured.Happened 15km north of Coral bay turn off

As with the rest of the comments,I am glad they did not suffer any injury,but they do not give a toss,they did not have to buy the boat or pay for damage,it is paid for by the over taxed,payers,I hope the cops look into it.jersey

Looks like the boat wasn't tied to the trailer either. Do Government worker's who drive Government vehicle's that us taxpayer's pay for have to do defensive driving and towing coarses? Look's like a load restraint coarse wouldn't go astray. Taxpayer funded of coarse! 

it looks from some other pic that ive seen and from what the guys that drove through after the fact that the driver had tried to avoid something on the road and couldnt get the rig back on line.As for it not strapped down it is no different than the hundreds of boats that get towed up the freeway every good weekend with no straps.The only diff is that up there you dont need to contend with hoons changing lane and cutting down your braking distances to the point you nearly need to wear a adult nappy to protect your seat covers from being browned.

I wonder if Dept of Transport would consider that as an insecure load? might have to ask the question next time the heavies pull me over.

If you think towing your boat down the freeway is stressful you want to try driving around Perth in a semi or pocket roadtrain! some people think a 79T roadtrain can stop as easily as a car. ABS is an amazing thing! 

i think A B S stands for A Big Sh@t in the poor bastard behinds pants .Being in a truck around town would scare the crap out of me.As i just said in the last post it was strapped down the strapping was on the road before the site and the signage was still on the back.

I can't believe some of the sh*t typed here. So what are you saying, government employees don't care about their equipment and lives just because they don't have to pay for the damages from their own pocket? They pay taxes as well so why is "your" tax money any different from theirs? Why is that even relevant? I'm also sure that like other State/ Commonwealth Government departments they are put through plenty of training courses for boating, driving, towing etc and everything is fully compliant.

If you have a grudge against Fisheries or other government compliance departments then take that up with the department, not the guys in the field. They are doing their jobs and carrying on with crap like that when checked will ensure you fail the attitude test and the only loser to walk away from it will be you.

Regardless of whether it's a private car and boat, private company or Government departments, no one would try to pull a crash like that off. Next time maybe think before you type and keep some comments to yourself.

I thought it might have been the state of the roads,,all the fines revenues never seems to help the state of the roads.

yes it was a fisheries car and boat but that does not give anyone the right to say what some are saying, it is still someones family member , partner or friend that was in the roll over,whoever it was they still pay their taxes just like the rest of us and they do put themselves on the line every time they confront a person that has done the wrong thing. so if you have nothing to say apart from rubbishing the fisheries officers involved or any other for that matter dont say anything

Guys, perhaps people should also think about that perhaps one of our good mates could have had some involvement, perhaps we could be a little more considerate towards what they might be going through, put yourself in their shoes, would you want the world speculating about all the "wrong things" they may have been doing.

Of coarse we cant avoid speculation and of coarse people are people and we are curious creatures, but us FW members can at least control what goes up on this site, that is a given.

Have to agree with the "think before you post" comments.

1.  Usually, when governemtn sets up a rig like this, they will have the absolute best of everything or very near it.  I woulg go so far as to say that it would be the equal of many and cewrtainly better than most rigs privately owned (maye except for company owned gear). Govt certainly does not scrimp on safety measures.

2.  Despite the fact that tax payers bought the rig to start with, just like you it will be fully insured and therefore cost the tax payer diddley squat to replace.  Just like you, govt agencies have to pay insurance premiums for everything they insure.  No such thing as free insurance.  (I know for a fact that the agency I currently work for has an annual insurance bill of around $600,000.00 to coiver all insurances including liabilities, building, vehicle, workers comp etc).

3.  Having bought a rig like that, you can be 99.9% sure that the rig is serviced very regularly and most certainly within manufacturers specifications and within the manufacturers recognised dealership network.  Certainly No back yarders and probably no third party maintenance companies.  You can be sure there were no maintenance issues.
