Went out to a well known whiting haunt,,was bothered by trumperters and blowies,,anyway to avoid them a bit ? i was thinking of maybe throwing some berley in one direction and keep the blowies occupied for a few minutes at a time,,or should i try drifting instead of anchoring ?
Others catch a good feed at the spot,,hopeing to do the same ,anything i am missing ?

You seem to get more shit
You seem to get more shit fish like wrasse and blowies in shallower water and less out deeper.
Plus the Kg's seem to be more prolific out deeper aswell.

I have a kg spot that you always have to get past the trumpeters first and it can get really annoying!
Couple of other spots in the sound where i anchor and always do well on good size kg.
Last session we got 8 40cm ones in about an hour.
Depending on the wind drifting and site casting is good to avoid shitty pickers.
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more serious than that!!!

Try the back edge on small bits of broken ground...off Mandurah we get 50cm plus ones doing this. Driftbait with double-snelled 2/0's (5/0 snapper hooks will get them but not as many) and a whole mulie or a stip of skippy fillet.
In the sound, same as what the fellas have said above. Keep moving until you get away from the crap is the main thing, and for rigs I use a single long shank no. 4 hook on a paternoster (small a weight as possible) and a tentacle off a freshly caught squid. You can drift from weed edge to weed edge or, as Rod said, anchor up and try some of those sinking berley pellets to bring 'em around.
Usually the southern flats in the sound are clear enough so you can see the KG's coming to take your bait!

Thanks for the advice so far,,i am fishing from the kayak so i will not be going out real deep,,fishing Warnbro Sound,,sounds like moving around is the key,,my mate got one KG then the trumps and blowies found us. (hordes of the buggers)
Do folks use berley when targeting KG's ? i am thinking its a bad idea,,attracts the pickers.
