Kalbarri land based

Hi guys,

I am going up to Kalbarri for the first time with the family in a campervan early next week.

Not much space to sneak a big rod with, but can take a 9 foot 2 piece with a medium size reel and limited tackle.

Any suggestions where I could sneak off for an early morning or late arvo fish?

Can rent a boat, but don't know the area at all - river mouth any good?

What species are best to target up there?

Dave

River mouth (chinamans) with Poppers the 135 Rosters go alright, or the similar sized R2S Dumbells

TAILOR & MULLOWAY your best bet

Even bait cast mulies into the white wash and wind back in slowly, last time I was up there this little south african guy got a 4.5kg tailor it was pretty FRICKIN BIG!!

Ive only fished there once

Good friend of mine lives there, reckons land based fishing there has gone to the crapper, its an easy day distance from perth and had a good reputation for fantastic fishing so it gets hammered, if you get out in a boat its another story, might be worth doing a charter?

Hope you do really well mate.

Chinamens is doing ok at the moment for tailor and the occasional mulloway. Blueholes and Wittacarra are doing better and there is alot more elbow room. Town is filling up at a rapid rate so be prepared to share the beaches with the hordes. I've got a spare beach rod you can borrow if you need while you're up here. Just let me know if you want it.

Cheers Mick
