Any other mid range reels i could look at?? Im going to be buying off the net as it will be cheaper so anything around 350 bucks on the net. thanks marko

My picks would be Talica TAC8 PE4/OH, or Daiwa Bradia 3500 PE3-4/Spin.

Daiwa saltist 6500 spin also
Daiwa saltist 6500 spin also worth a look and a descent price if you shop around mind you that's a suggestion only for sambo jigging. Too heavy for anything else

Using okuma salina 2 atm for
Using okuma salina 2 atm for my partner and i. Which were too heavy for the amberjacks last weekend so i havent actually given them a proper run. I know they cop alot of abuse from ppl here but the drag was super smooth. I also used a pfleuger torsion on the ambers and it was super fun. Im sure other ppls reel suggestions would be better, i try use the most affordable but will do the job kind of gear as i just cant afford the ultimate stuff. Bewdy of a mortgage, maybe one day a stella

You'd get away with the
You'd get away with the Stradic so no need to buy anything. The Gosa would work ok but.
You could always get that saltist jigging combo in the for sale section!!

Jigging reel - what's so special ??
Yes, is a question - what's special about a jigging reel?
what is it that makes some much better than some others?
How does the Fin-Nor 'offshore level-wind OFL30' compare with the best of the rest?

I liked the advertising blurb and the feel of the reel in the shop, after using it I have no complaints, but I have not used the other reels mentioned.
I thought the 5 double-shielded stainless steel bearings and oversized stainless steel main gear with brass pinion gear and the 11-Disc stainless steel and carbon fiber drag system sounded reasonable to me so I paid out the cash

Things that *I* don't want
Things that *I* don't want on a jigger;
Things that *I* do want;
I made my choices on that basis, other people's prefs differ though.

Good points Till,
can also add lightweight and stong/smooth drag too. Also @ 300m capacity of your chosen pe line class
Mainey, go into a good tackle store and ask to have a look at some good quality
jigging reels. You'll have your answer pretty quick
The reel you have would be a solid bottom bashing/ trolling reel.

Line capacity
300m? Depends on what it's for ;)
My deep jigging outfit has 600m, and I've had 500m of that out before, the PE4 outfit only has 300m, as does the PE2 one.
Yeah good drag is a given. It needs to be able to pull at least half of line weight. There are reasons why you may want to be able to pull more than half of your line weight, but they're fairly specialist and not really worth worrying about till you run into them.
I totally agree about weight too.

bottom bashing - dropping
bottom bashing - dropping baits down over heavy lumps of lead , and dragging it over the ocean floor.
and i must agree with the above comments. will you ever have enough rod and reel combo's. there always seems to be a gap in the arsenal that , once filled , opens a gap elsewhere for another must have combo.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Basically what
Grayzee said mate. The good old days of everyone fishing bait on paternoster rigs in a boat are long gone. It's still a very effective way of catching most bottom dwelling/demersal fish but nothing beats tricking a fish into eating an artificial
HOOOKT, what setup are you looking for? I'm guessing pe6 or 8 for sambos?
