I can't see why you wouldn't be able to take hooks,

just make sure they're in your checked luggage, not your carry on..

 No Tweesers, pliers and I most recently found on a trip to the Monte's, you are not allowed sinkers..

Personally, IMO if you can hyjack a plane with tweesers then you deserve the plane..

 You can check in pretty well what you like. It's the carry on where they get finnikey.

Was questioned about braid on my reels and ended up having to put the spools in the suitcase - was told it could be used as a garrote (spellcheck??).  Didn't tell the bloke I my car key, pen etc were also quite capable of killing someone if you know how to use them as I didn't feel like hearing the slap of a glove being pulled on - this was to QLD but was fine on the trip back.  Was a few years back and they have loosened off a bit since then..

Check with the airport security if in doubt not the airline as they don't police it.  International are likely to be more strict to some extent but often you go throught he same checkpoint anyway

 yeah mate just to be safe take the spools off your reel if your keen to chuck them in hand luggage. BTW when they scan your hand luggage they usually say "youve been selected for a random check" which really means "we dont know what the f$%* your reel is on the scanner"

yeah definitely not allowed the line on the spools (I've flown with it in hand luggage, but they are not meant to let you).

They dont like stickbaits or jigs either.

I brought a compound bow with the arrows and hunting heads in my lugage. You just cant take in your hand luggage. packed mine in a special bow bag, declared it and they handled it as fragile. You can't bring anything "natural in though. feathers and the like. So wrapped your reels and jigs up well and put them in your luggage, Yoou should be able to take you rod on the plane, just ask them to stow it for you.

And check you destination's laws. MY Mate took a speargun on the plane in Bali and nearly got arrested in Singapore.

i rang up Qantas last night to see if I can take spooled reeld on the plane to broome. The guy said I can, But he never gave a definitive answer and basically said its up to the check in people, and the people at the gate.

All depends on the airport where you are boarding. The airline may allow it but if your going to try to pass through the security checkpoint to get to the departure gates that is where you will have the problem. I'd suggest if boarding at Perth you will have a problem but on way back and boarding at regional centres it may not be a problem.
