Interesting catch at freshwater bay

Took my girlfreind fishin tonight to the local jetty down freshwater bay hoping for a nice bream.
This is the part where is gets really wierd. As we were walking to the jetty i said for some unknown reason " you should catch a seahorse tonight".
I dont know what gave me the idea. I have fished the swan river for 20+yrs and only caught one while fishing at point walter. It wrapped itself around my hook and i released it unharmed.

Around 8oclock Lisa got snagged then it came free. I was rigging up my rod and as she got the bait out the water i heard her say " oh my god , you said i would catch a sea horse and i have one"!!
What are the bloody chances of that!. I must be psycic!!!!!!!
Lucky this little guy wasnt hooked. He was hangin onto a lump of what looked like sea erchin or river erchin. Took a couple pics and let him go. What a spinout!

Awesome.... name it Sea Biscuit?

Now if you can just share the winning numbers in Lotto ......

Would make you think about the area of Freshwater Bay having a resonably high saline content. Wonder if its upstream presence has anything to do with dredging in the lower parts of the harbour.

Thanks for sharing that - you don't see them everyday for sure - let alone catch one

Unusual but not rare.

I've seen these little guys in the river probably half a dozen times, always on a calm, moonlit night.

Them and sea moths, as well.  Now THEY"RE cute!

yer nice creatures. there was an artical in the paper not long ago about the swan river sea horses. i think it said there are only 2 places in the world that seahorses live in a river system, one being the swan.

Love sea horses

I caught one on a squid jig in the sound, in some weed, wondered what was moving in the sea weed, it looked ok, so we released it.
