Mantis Shrimp

I see a few diving in the Swan for King Prawns, and I took a couple but they're a bugger to peel, so I leave them alone these days.

They also like to kill your marine fish. They normally get introduced to tanks on bought pieces of coral, and hard to locate after that.

A mate of mine introduced an occy to sort the problem, but the bastard thing ended up taking residence in his trickle filter system, now 2 problems... funny shit!!! Better him than me.

After loads of stress, he managed to catch the mantis and we fed it to my jack.

Thats why marine tanks are so good. They are very unpredictable because live rock can contain virtually anything.  I worked at Vebas for a while and used to collect all the inverts from the live rock boxes. I ended up with an pretty bad crab problem...

Veba's actually supplied the mangrove jack that ultimately ended the mantis drama. I was a bit hesitant in feeding it to him initially, but all ended well.

The big mantis shrimp 11- 12 inches are great deepfried in very very hot oil.  Crisp skin and just cooked on the inside.  Eaten shell and all.  YUM!
