I love this feeling

It's knowing that I'm only a few hours away from my next landbased fishing adventure. It's the mystery and nervous anticipation that the waiting brings. In four hours I'll be waking up and heading off on my last trip to 'chase the big one' before our firstborn arrives.

Here's the plan. I'll be arriving at Hill River about 5am to soak a big bait for a few hours and bait cast for some morning tailor. All being well, by around 8am I'll have a couple of good sized tailor and a nice fat mullaway on the beach.

Then I'll head out to Cervantes service jetty for a bit of ballooning. Hopefully catch a reef shark or two and who knows - I might get lucky and land a sambo or something unexpected. I'll also flick out the little rod for some of those big 'stormies' - fat gardies and no doubt land a couple of herring at the same time.

Then I'll clean up my catch and head up to the house in Leeman for a couple of hours kip. When my mate arrives, we'll hit our secret spot for some squid and launch the balloons to see whats offshore. Some big sharks around the spot and some 'unknowns' that THIS TIME we will be ready for. Maybe sambos, perhaps a stray mack, or even a snapper close in.

If we feel like it we might just go another 'spot' to walk the reef for some crabs and cobbler. Not sure....but I might be getting a bit greedy if I do that :-p

Truth be told - I'll probably come home with a feed of herring and not much else. But I just LOVE the thought that all of the above might transpire. I also LOVE our country...where else in the world can you potentially do all this within a few hours of a major population!

I'll report back on Sunday. Wish me luck!
