I got out yesterday and managed a few small bluefin out deep (on way to FAD's) and finished off the day with one drift in 60m where we got a monster baldie, amongst a few more average baldies, blackarse and a small pinkie...

Spent majority of the day working hard for sambo's at the barges and trolling west end and out deep for little return

Went out west of point peron

Sun, 2009-02-01 19:50

Went out west of point peron today. Took advantage of the fine conditions and headed out to the 50-60m mark. Heap of boats out there, but judging by the amount of moving around the other boats were doing and rods not bending i dont think anyone was killing it. Only managed to get one legal Dhui 65cm, one legal Pinkie 50cm, an undersized Dhui(god those release weights are great inventions!), undersized Sambo and a couple of wrasse. Great looking ground out there though!

Reasonable day with Staal

Sun, 2009-02-01 20:26

We picked up 3 dhuies (one released) 5 very big black bums (one released), 1 baldie, a massive ray, a morwong of some description, a few SB's and I even caught a huge octopus on hook and line.
We had fun and dropped a few good fish too.

Cheers

bugger

Mon, 2009-02-02 07:08

yeah we fished out from point peron yesterday, but to no avail.

left early as, and were fishing over an hour later before the sun was up, fished for 12 hours, and got one undersized dhu and a foxfish.

they just weren't cooperating yesterday. we could see the buggers on the sounder, but f a takers. travelled out a bit wider for same result, but found some good new ground to try when the moon is better.

still a good day to be out on the water though. how flat was it!!!

Only had a quick trip out of Mindarie as I had commitments for the arvo. Fished around the 30m mark for bugger all apart from the odd SB & one small Black Arse. Dropped one decent fish that was called for a baldie.

Cheers Steve

Conditions don't get any

Mon, 2009-02-02 11:04

Conditions don't get any better. Buzzed my 460 CC out to 40m off Peron. Only reward 1 XOS KG, and some good dhuie baits (Sgt Bakers) for next time. Oh and 1 mystery bust off after a 4min battle with head shakes a few runs etc....(will never know unfortunately) *PING*

Dhuie virgin no more

Tue, 2009-02-03 07:55

Me and the father in law went out from Peron to the 32 mtr mark got 2 dozen school whiting and then on to the 40 mtr mark and we both got a dhuie each both around the 8kg mark. Used whole whiting and squid.

Bloody hot though. Plenty of liquid refreshments were the key to success.
