Went off ocean reef to 3mile area.... plenty of wrasse but still managed a little bronzie, a big cuttlefish and a few skippy. Also saw some tuna (southern blues??) busting up out there. Seemed pretty quiet tho

we went out north of swbank
we went out north of swbank it seemed the only thing biting was black bum got our bag limit of blackbum in an hour and couldnt catch anything except yep u guessed it black bum seems they are the blowies of the ocean. Cant complain though was a beautifull day and couldnt think of a better way to spend a saturday. Oh i forgot my deckie hammo got a sized duhie, Stupid duhie must of thought he was a black bum.

Had a ball cathing pinkys on plastics at the ffb.Biggest landed went 70cm but got smoked by some bigger one's all on 6kg gear.Will post pics ect as soon as i have time.

out for 8 hours sounding around
had good shows throughout the day but managed 1 decent kg , a few whiting , bloody seargent baker and silver bream. not good. any thoughts why not much on the bite??
i'm thinking something weather, tide or moon wise. i really need to keeep a diary.
did find a school of sambo's and amberjack. the day was saved.
lost a few jigs though. wasn't much point in sending down anything worth good coin as the raiders were getting smashed when used as jigs.
lost a horse and snapped my 30lb braid twice on a couple others.
i like jigging.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Done pretty well out at rotto got a few blackass and heaps of good size skippy and theres still huge schools of decent size kingfish around west end we managed to boat about 10 or so and got bricked by alot more all in about 15m of water

Fishing today
Fished the ROFC comp today and got two 900gram KG'S.
Not much else biting, plenty off fish on the sounder but they didnt wanna bite!

we got a few tailor, left them biting and struggled to find a few squid (I think we got 4 in the end). The water was magnificent and clear, possibly not that great for squid though....

Struggled on Saturday after a quick fire start
landed 2 dhuies first drop, then two pinkies second drop then it went all quiet.
Got smoked on one spot and managed a 77 cm Pinkie on another.
Roger caught his first dhuie although it was a bit small,
All in all we landed about 6 dhuies and a similar number of pinks (all just under size) one sambo to about 15kgs a number of silver bream, some sweep, scorpion cod, SB's and skippy and really just the one 77cm Pinkie as a keeper.
The almanac showed it as a white day so we were expecting it to be tough to get a bite. Lots of fish on the sounder but none really playing ball.

The almanac showed it as a white day so we were expecting it to be tough to get a bite. Lots of fish on the sounder but none really playing ball.
They are odd Andy. Sometimes the black days are intense short bites and as the Almanac gets lighter the bite periods get longer but know where near as intense.
Then theres other aspects such as wind, baro and temp that influence whether they are to bite at all.
Good influences on a grey day can be better over a period than a short black day especially after some rough weather.
In this state its get out when the weather is good. Bugger the grey scale.

Out around rotto
Out around rotto today.
plenty of small dhu's and small pinks around.......... we would hhave boated atleast 2 dozen pinkies between 25cm and 40 cm..... 4 small dhus, couple of good black bums, plenty of skippy, and some nice reds too.
Found some new coral too which produced the nanny's. Not a very big lump but dam it held some fish....

Out deep today
Left the ramp at 5:30 done the usual searching of pinkys at a couple of spots in close then headed out deep. It was very slow going plenty of fish on the sounder but they didn't want to play the game. First fish was boated at 11:30 and then the rest in the arvo. Headed in at 3:30 with a good feed of pinks and reds. It was hard work doing numerous drifts and losing lots of lead to the coral but the time wasn't wasted racking up more spots .

Sat fish
Crazy sstuff,
I put the boat in on Sat and had a ball and left them biting.
Ended up with a 12kg, 8kg and a 4kg dhu, a 3kg baldie and a big blackbum. Missed a lot of good bites but me and the old man were buggerising around most of the day after the first fish to hit the deck was the big dhu. Werent really fussed after that. Found some gold new ground though where we got the big dhu plus a few new spots marked on the way in we didnt fish.

Pretty quiet up here, got 6 blue manner, 18 undersize muddies all released, 2 good sized muddies, 9 different species on lures (all released). Then went for a quick squid on Sunday and got one monster squiddly, but generally very quiet due to the low tide. Couple of cracking days coming up this week that I should get out on.
