Hillarys hit out
Submitted by Colin Hay on Sun, 2009-06-21 17:54
I popped down to Hillarys this morning just before dawn hoping the wind might have blown some big fish in close to shore.
It was a bit blowy early, but dropped off at about 7 am. I ran into Uncle Stu, who was cleaning up on herring at the disabled ramp, and suggested he join me at the lighthouse.
Only had a short session, but managed a nice little 30 cm pinky, three good skippy and a very small flathead.
Uncle Stu landed a great skippy on his herring gear.
It was only a short sharp session, but lots of fun.
Sorry I didn't take any pics as I decided to leave my camera at home with the rain threatening.

Thanks all
At this time of the year you can pretty much guarantee yourself to catch a feed at Hillarys. It is just a matter of knowing the spots and the times to fish there. You get there at the wrong time and you will struggle to get past the blowies, but there are small windows of opportunity when the fish will just about always be on the bite.
